Good trails

Very beautiful trip my daughter and I rode our bikes stopped and 8 lock's lots of blackberries on the way on a beautiful summer evening

it's basically a road, so bikes horses hiking etc is all an option. I happen to have an amazing clear day and could see the cascades range off in the distance at one point, made for some stellar views.

It was hard finding the actual trailhead if you don’t use the app. I absolutely loved the hike! Such a good workout and my dog loved it as well. I try to go places that allow dogs off leash and it was a perfect trail for that. Another thing that confused me was the satellite on the app. I wasn’t sure if I was going the right way so I kept asking people who passed by if I was going the right way; finally one person seemed to know what I was talking about

It was very beautiful!

Pretty good hike and easy to get to, the incline is pretty steep but a good workout! Lots of people on bikes which is cool. Not very many view-points. I think people use it more as a walking/jogging loop regularly. There’s a nice little pond and it’s a fun place to hangout when it’s sunny. The trails are mostly gravel.

We (wife, dog, me) walked his trail on a Saturday afternoon in August. Delightful easy walk thru managed forest. Encountered occasional other cyclists, joggers, and walkers. Trail is thru the forest and does not offer panoramic views.

I love this hike went last Sunday and am coming back today to do it again. The lake at the top is a nice cherry on top as well. My dogs like this hike but there is a sign posted at the beginning that dogs can be off leash if they respond to you when you call them. That does make it hard for people that have dogs that are on the leash though due to them feeling fight or flight when a dog off leash approaches them.

We (wife, dog, me) walked the first part of this trail late afternoon on a Friday in mid October. Spectacular views, good climb, and we encountered no other walkers. We'll definitely do it again and try some of the other trail options.

Easy, very pleasant walk. Quite busy with other dog walkers, joggers, and cyclists.

Nice hike with good elevation balance

Good hike with balanced elevation gain

3.9 Miles is the trail length according to my phone. Took me about an hour and 20 minutes to complete. Good trail but if given the choice I’d do the section 36 loop trail any day over this loop trail

the name of the park is actually forest dell park. Nice easy loop with lots of mature trees and big leaf maples. Great spot for birding. I’ve seen many woodpecker species, nuthatches, brown creepers, and even a Great Horned Owl.

Overall, another great hike in the McDonald Forest. Only downside is that the majority of the hike is on forest/fire roads. I recommend taking Roads 600/680/700/790 to the top as there are signs at most intersections to point you to the top. However, grabbing a free map at the trailhead is a good idea since there are many trails in this area. Alternatively, you can take Road 770 from the Homestead Trail, but you need a permit to take the Southridget Trail which is in the Starker Forest. This hike has a steady incline no matter which way you take up providing a great workout. Nice bench at the summit to sit on and enjoy the view out over the Willamette Valley.

We went on the main path and also went off left of the trail through pines onto a very small hill. Many species of birds especially Nuthatches.

Very nice hike with a steep.incline but such an amazing view.

Lovely hike with my 2 grown kiddos and 2 dogs. The lake was small, but beautiful and peaceful. The dogs romped around in the water for a bit. I rated this hike only 3 stars because 90% of the loop was on a gravel road. We were under tree cover the entire hike and the trees were pretty along with birds chirping!

Nice short hike!

This was a bueatiful trail for me and my dog. We took the shorter option since it was my first time on this trail. I only wish the map had the you are here pointer so I could navigate myself better (I got directions for the shorter route from another hiker).

Well maintained trail. Slightly steep switchback turns closer to the summit at Dimple Hill. Very shady for most of trail. Gorgeous views of Corvallis and Philomath.

Great loop trail. Shaded the whole way and there are a lot of other trails that branch off of it. Dogs allowed and wasn’t very crowded (5pm on weekday). Great way to escape heat In summer. Highly recommend.

Great trail and stroller friendly

great trail for dogs! good afternoon romp for my pup and me. pretty mellow trail. good shade. will be doing this again.

Did this trail this morning, started at Homestead and took trail 770 upto the small side trail to the peak. Once you start on trail 770 is is a steep incline. Side trail is even steeper but brief. Great views and more for a workout then views on the way. Other trails are more scenic to top but enjoyable and I recommend.
Grab a map in the beginning, trails can be confusing.

Most of the hike (that we ended up on at least) was on a big wide gravel trail. It’s doable but definitely took some breaks to catch our breath with the elevation rise. Beautiful view and even more beautiful coming down looking out west! Would do again
