Hiking up to the upper falls is a moderate hike: rocky and rooty. The loop trail has signs but not where it counts. The hike to the bottom of the fall is easy and well maintained (there were even some strollers). Very dog friendly.

Fun and pretty easy trail. There were a lot of people at the first fall as would be expected, but the second fall wasn’t hard to reach and much less crowded.

Beautiful hike with upper and lower falls but loop trail is not marked. Would suggest hiking to the upper Falls and turning back and not doing the loop. Dog friendly

Easy hike to the base of the waterfall if you go on the quick trail!

Go early to beat the crowds

Normally I take the direction that leaves the steeper part for the downhill trek at the end, when I’m tired. But in the case of this trail, going clockwise, taking the steeper portion first, leaves the amazing reveal of the bottom of the lower falls for the end. It’s worth going behind the falls, but be very careful. Every step is treacherous.

July/2018 Twas an excellent Sunday early morning hike. I enjoyed the quick 1.9 miles to the lake. The lake had a brook that added to the ambience of coming off a dirt trail onto sand out in the open sun. The water was warm and great for strolling through. There were lots of little fish in the water. Saw a few big ones jumping out of the water.

Parking: non existent, pull off on the road and park it

Trail: trail markers were blue markers, a minimalist method for marking the trail. Despite the minimalist approach to a trail marker the trail itself was established.
Personal trail rating = EASY the elevation was minimal. There were 15 trees/limbs to walk or climb over. There were some stairs at a steeper part of the trail right before a private property gate. FYI I’m from Alaska where inclines are a constant and trails are what YOU forge. This was easier than what I’m used to.

Trail use: trail running, walking, hiking, or day

This would be a place I’d hike Out lunch or a snack and chill on the beach with good company. There was some seasoned wood along the trail and there were signs of people having a fire. My only caution is to keep the wilderness and your trash separate. Packout what you packed in.

I like that this trail had a brook, sand, minimal people, great sun exposure, and it was a decent distance.

Great short hike if you are not wanting to do too much. Awesome water falls and beautiful views.

Great hike. Lots of uphill at first but rewarding once you get to the first falls. I recommend doing this hike clockwise to finish off on beautiful falls. Great for good pictures with family too!!

Easy viewing. Drive up to the trail head and walk down about .2 miles and either bask from afar or under the fall!

Very fun quick hike. I recommend arriving early if you want to avoid crowds!

Great small trail to see a waterfall. It is a busy trail.

Since multnomah falls is closed. I took this one instead. Beautiful hike. Big waterfall. Is a small hike.

Fun to stand under the top waterfall! Trail was great and it was moderately busy with people.

Nice two mile hike down to the river. Beautiful, quiet sandy beach. My pup loved running around. A bit more difficult with the two miles back up with the incline. Very nice weekend hike.

Saw a dope millipede and a giant golden mushroom, and some cool trees. Good mixture of plants and water together. At no point did I feel like I had too much plant and water. Bring your vape pen if you have one.

Love this trail!! Beautiful waterfalls, amazing views and a very good loop hike. Lots of people so plan for trouble with parking!

Lovely trail. Rocky in some places, but a great way to spend an afternoon.

Such a beautiful area! Great trail kind of rocky in some areas so don’t trip but pretty fun

The hike up to the upper falls is quite steep and can get rocky. Its pretty easy for the avid hiker but it can get a little tough for older patrons or people with knee/ankle problems. Beautiful falls at the top tho! The lower falls is a very easy paved path. Finding parking was a bear but the hike is very much worth it!

Short, easy hike. Typically a highly trafficked spot. There’s certainly better and more challenging hikes in the gorge but Latourell is beautiful and a good hike for less seasoned hikers.

Parking lot was full, had to park about .2 miles down the road. Most people stayed at the bottom of the falls so the trail was not too populated. Decent waterfall, couple of good outlooks along the trail. Very easy but nice trail.

awesome trail. the only downside is the size of the parking lot

Is the trail still closed?

I took my friend who has never seen the Columbia River Gorge before here. It was a good hike to start with due to the short, easy-to-walk loops to both falls.
He immediately fell in love with the beautiful scenery.
We spent a good amount of time exploring around Lower Latourell; admiring the rock formations, feeling the cool mist from the water rain down on us as we adventured closer and closer to the fall, and finally capturing a couple spectacular photos before we continued on up to Upper Latourell.
Bug bushels of Queen Ann's Lace and Trillums in various shades of pink and purple were sprinkled throughout the lush greenery that guided us along to our second waterfall of the day. The not-to-distant sound of rushing water complimented the pitter patter of our feet almost the entire hike.
I encourage anyone who does the full loop to stop and be a little daring: checkout the cliffside viewpoint!
It's an rocky little walk down to a spectacular view that looks out over the Columbia River Gorge. We caught it at about sunset, and had a full two minutes to sit down and take it all in before the clouds unleashed a very sudden down pour, but even so, we sat out on that cliffside and didn't let a little rain ruin our parade.

We did this hike on mother's day. There were 4 kids, 1 teenager and 3 adults. Every one of us enjoyed this beautiful easy to moderate hike. It was a perfect day and trail for all.

Fun little 2 mile loop.

Very crowded. Beautiful scenery.

lots of fun to hang out right under the falls

Quick and easy hike with beautiful sights and sounds. Restrooms available at the trailhead and the path is well maintained/Worn. Side street parking is available/permitted once the main lot is full but the majority of folks seemed to view the falls from the bottom viewing area so the trail wasn’t very crowded despite a full lot.
