Parking lot is sketch, trail is beautiful. Baby friendly and not too busy.

This is one of those one-timer trails where you feel satisfied after visiting one time with no desire of going back especially with a dog off leash. Too close to the road for comfort. One thing that made it worth to see is to see the St John bridge up close from the ground up but that’s about it.

Been looking for a little longer hike in North Portland that is a loop and not in and back. Found this trail to be great!

Easy walk to take the dog on and I love people watching on the waterfront but there's much better places in the area to go to.

Great trail for a workday workout. Great city views. Loud on Eastside but that wS expected

Nice walk along the river. TRAFFIC IS SO LOUD ON THE SE SIDE! Parking costs $1 per hour, cash or card, park at the Vera Katz SE Esplanade on SE Water and Hawthorne. You could extend your walk down to OMSI on the SE side and go over the Tillicum Bridge. But the walk from Tillicum to Hawthorne on the west side isn’t that great.

Great if you want to do something active without having to go very far. Loved doing it in the fall with all of the leaves changing! Bonus points that there's a brewery only a few blocks from the park entrance for a post hike beverage!

Nice quick hike. Catches elevation quickly.
Nice views of the city from the south summit. High recommend checking out the climbing columns on the way down.

It's a nice short trail up to a city center view point located in the middle of Eugene. I like to jog the river trail with my kids and always take the 20 min or so jog to the top of Skinners Butte and back. across the street from the Butte there is a cute kids play ground as well.

One of my favorites in the area!!

This is a nice short (1.5) mile urban walk/stroll/short hike combining wooded areas up and down Spencer Butte (elevation less than 300') and a quarter mile along the river. There is ample parking at Campbell Park (eastern trailhead) and at the Riverplay Discovery Village and Playground (western trailhead)

Great until you cross back over to the East side. Be prepared for shorts with human feces in them, and homeless refuse everywhere.

A bit crowded but beautiful views of the river.

Great Walk along the river in the downtown area. You can follow this up with a walk up to the zoo or OHSU you to ride the sky tram to grab a different perspective view of the city. I meander along the trail and others within forest park often. A beautiful stop is always the rose gardens that overlook the city a nice spot to relax and literally smell the roses. Grab a fresh coffee and a water go explore.

I really enjoy doing this loop and further. There is a lot of walking traffic though but it's never too much only if there's an event going on. There's a lot of homeless people out and smells going on but it's a great solid loop.

Our local walking & running loop. The east side of the river is a great place to take photos of the city :)

Too many bicyclists...who are rude and do not signal to them that they are coming.

Spectacular view of downtown portland. Great for a jog or bike riding as well. The loop is a go to for a last minute bike ride outing for my boyfriend and I.

Beautiful walk. Bikes can be a little aggressive so watch out.

Not a bad little walk if you are in the Portland area for the day. Nice views of the Willamette and downtown PDX. We traveled clockwise, which seemed to be the direction of choice for other walkers and bikers as well. Crossing the Steel Bridge was way loud, as a cargo train was coming in and screeching to high heaven. The Hawthorne was much less eventful.

Nice easy run. Can be completed during a lunch break.

The Esplanade to Waterfront Park loop is a very leisurely walk that takes you on both sides of the Willamette and across the Hawthorne and Steel Bridges. It's a perfect stroll on a nice day if you have friends or family visiting. This is a heavily used bike thoroughfare, so you may want to keep a close watch on small children.
