Great hike, easy to find, some hills, beautiful scenery, only saw 2other people before we hit the fish hatchery. Went early March , still some muddy spots, looking forward to doing it again in summer.

Beautiful January day. Trail was a bit muddy but worth the hike.

great trail. there are a few trails off the main one that can distract you, but the main trees is well marked

Great short walks to see some highlights in Astoria

Neat hike to the top to see the Astoria column. Also a way to save the $5.00 parking fee! Steep incline with many tree roots. We hiked this and then did the 164 stairs to the top of column. Beautiful views.

This hike tracked longer than stated, 7.2 mile. Great hike, but not all that easy. Children may struggle with the elevation change if you hike all the way to the end.
Great for trail running on the decent.

Nice hike, mud isn't too bad and easy to avoid. The tree is neat and the column is really cool. Worth it to go to the top but can get crowded

Easy hike but the map at the trailhead says the trip will be longer than it is. Climb the column at the top when you get there.

couple muddy spots but not bad at all

Very muddy appears motorcycles have been riding it also, very rutted out

extremely muddy except for a few months out of the year

I took my 2 and 4 year old from the top by Astoria column to the tree and back up they loved it!! Would definitely recommend this to people with small kids.

The Gnat Creek Trail is the greatest resource for trail running on Highway 30, and perhaps in all of northwest Oregon! Awesome curves, hills, and forest; runnable year-round; solitude and inspiration await you! Try it, you'll love it! I do!!!

It is an OK trail. Great for a quick run. It isn't too isolating; you can hear cars on roads. The column is beautiful and maintained very well. Worth going if you are familiar with history.

If you are an avid hiker or backpacker, skip this one. At about a mile each way, it's a boring trail to an uninteresting tree as you've probably seen thousands of others that elicited more oohs and ahhs than this one.

Very nice! Just right to let the terriers burn off some energy before walking around downtown Astoria. It took about 1.75 hours and there was enough incline to make my heart sit up and pay attention. No gnats! And s pretty spot by the creek near the end.

Beautiful hike coupled with the Astoria Column...what's NOT to like? All of my guests thoroughly enjoy it.
