Beautiful meadows of sage, corn lillies and lupin, forests of evergreens and aspens, andcamazing views of shasta, mt ashland, pilot rock and mcloughlin in the last two miles to the peak. I call the top Cafe Wagner because it’s a great place for lunch.

I loved this trail. The first two to three miles are the hardest but then it smooths out a little just in time for the views. Finished by 10 am on what is supposed to be quite a hot day but there was plenty of shade. I was the first one on the trail this morning, so I ate most of the spider webs (so don’t be first if that bothers you). Great views the whole way up but nothing compares to the views at the top.

Did it twice this year in the month of July. I believe Soda mountain road (to get to the pct ) is closed. So don't waste a trip out there! Beautiful hike with lots of views

Wow. It’s as good as everyone has been saying on here. Definitely not easy. So much of it’s uphill. But the views are amazing. I did this and Crater Lake while I was in the area, and it was a perfect two day combination.

it was very nice hike

Great hike! So beautiful and not crowded! The views of the taller peaks and valleys from the top are excellent.

An extraordinarily beautiful and rewarding hike. Not too difficult, but medium length. Make sure you’re acclimated!
Tough drive in, need four wheel drive and a resilient stomach

Very nice and diverse trail. Loads of wildflowers, butterflies, birds, excellent views. Lush green forest opens up to some mountain meadows, then drier open hillside showing wildfire effects from several years ago. Saw a baby black bear on the way up to the trailhead. All around well worth it and good for kids.

Did this my kids, my two year old walked most the way! View is fantastic! Recommend starting in the early morning. Took us a little over 3 hours.

Fantastic hike! One of the family's favorites. Beautiful meadows full of flowers and breathtaking views of Mt. Shasta at the top. Easy hike.

Diverse terrain. It starts in the forest and opens up. Lots of wildflowers late into the season. No grizzlies, but I did see a black bear a couple of years ago!

Fantastic hike with beautiful views. Easy to find. Summit trail is marked but then unmarked. We never knew if we actually reached the summit. Hiked this with two city-fide ten year olds. My only disappointment was the lack of real grizzlies to eat these boys and give me a moment of rural peace.

Fun trail to run with some decent climbing and roller coaster twisty turny switch backs. We went on a Tuesday morning and had no trouble with the trail being crowded but I could see it being an issue with lots of bikes on the weekend. Great trail for off peak hours.

Take note, the part not on the PCT is part ski slope descent, part creek ascent, and part bushwhacking. I'm disappointed this is presented as a trail.

We get just under 5.5 miles for the loop based on our GPS record. Always a lovely hike and the trail is in superb condition.

Easy to moderate trail in the spring and summertime. My pup loves it best.

This would be a nice hike if it weren't for the rude and dangerous mountain bikers. It is called Toothpick for a reason, very narrow often with no room on either side and the bikers come flying down the hill not even having the decency to tell you there are others behind them. Definitely not good for taking your dog.

I have little respect for these bikers.

Easy to moderate, well marked trail. Spectacular 360 views, perfect place for a picnic. No snow mid-May 2018. Great reward to effort ratio!

Very interesting drive. The 1st 10 miles no trespassing signs everywhere you look. Once you got higher snowparks everywhere. Quite a few lakes around as well. First time I had seen Lake of the Woods. Came back out 140 with even more lakes.

This is a beautiful area, but not great for hikers. There were multiple groups of mountain bikers and we had to be constantly be ready to jump off the trail. If you’re a mountain biker, this is a great trail!

Hiked with Daniela the morning of 5/25. Beautiful! Would rate it easy/moderate, only a couple times that went a little up hill otherwise it was easy and beautiful. Love that part of it was a loop trail. We could see Mt. Shasta and Mt. Adams from the top. When we first arrived we only saw 4 people, by the time we got down the parking lot was completely full!

This is a beautiful and fun trail to hike. Dog friendly! Just a really busy trail. Hard to find parking at times

Did 05/27/18 I think it’s closer 11.5 miles though.

A few muddy spots in spring, but a great hike for kids (ages 5 & 9) and leashed dogs. Flowers, mountain views and butterflies this time of year.

Nice hike. Pretty quick and easy. The only semi tough part was the stretch of uphill road you climb to the top. Good amount of wildflowers and nice views of Shasta, McLoughlin, and Pilot Rock. There was mud at the beginning of the trail and it was thick, so bring an extra pair of shoes/socks if it has recently rained.

this was an awesome Trail did not realize how stupid was close to the top but we managed with a toddler screaming at us the whole time LOL

Decent elevation gain but not hard by any means

Beautiful. You can also start from Mt Ashland.

Absolutely gorgeous views! Most of the trail was perfect for running.
