Personally I felt uncomfortable here. I pulled up and there were people in the trees staring as if I was going to bother them. For the little bit of this trail I did do, we came home with no ticks (so far) which is good. I won't be returning to this trail, just had a bad vibe.

This was a great hike up to the top of the Elk Mountain. This area is kind of unique because most of the surrounding area in Oklahoma is relatively flat. The trail was well kept and in good condition. The view at the top is great! Go slow and use caution for the uneven terrain, especially on the way back down. During the summer months be sure to wear a hat and bring plenty of fluids because of the heat and elevation gain going up the mountain.

Well marked trail. Good views. Grass was waist high in quite a few spots but can still easily follow the trail. Easy to get to. Excited to return when the leaves turn colors!

What a great hike! We also had the opportunity to see vultures perched down by the shore.

We hiked from the trailhead at the park to the swinging bridge and back. Overall, the trail was well marked, though some spots were overgrown. Be prepared to walk along Highway 10, which was very odd. Also, the swinging bridge was closed for maintenance, but we didn't know it until we crossed over to other side and read the sign on the locked gate. It would have been nice to put a sign on both sides, especially since it was deemed unsafe to cross. Other than that, it was enjoyable.

Nice trail for the most part. It’s not always marked very well though. And the wooden bridge by marker 10 is falling apart (missing and weak slats).

Nicely kept gravel trail with beautiful views. Nice tree canopy, bird watching and streams along the way. Missed out on seeing bison!

trail is very overgrown with underbrush. many fallen trees. I'd rate this trail as hard. Made it to 1/4 mile from the end and couldn't continue unless we felt like rock climbing or had brought a machete. Other than that a fun hike. Spanish Cave was cool but riddled with graffiti.

Only time for a short hike, maybe 3 miles total out and back. I will definitely go back to explore that and the other trails in the area. Saw an area where deer had bedded down, with prints visible under the grass.

Have been many times. After the first steep part, the top is pretty level. You meet some nice folks but not usually a place to go for solitude. I have never been asked for my hunting/fishing license but looks like others have had to pay fines. For seniors, you can get a lifetime hunting/fishing license for a one-time fee; a lot cheaper than paying a fine.

Easy trail ; great reward at the end if the falls are flowing.

Very clean. I took a short hike midweek and passed no other hikers. Lots of deer and armadillo tracks, still undisturbed at mid afternoon. It was a very hot day and the only wildlife I saw were a couple of tortoises. I disturbed a large bird but did not get a good look at it.

Would be good to go very early, get off the trail and just sit, watch and listen.

Has anyone tried out the tent camping area?

There are seed ticks! You will get hundreds or so on you! Otherwise great trail, well maintained, the dogs had fun.

Nice trail with some good ups and downs, but not well marked, especially at the top. I expected more views of the river, but there were only a couple. We both got bad chigger bites in spite of using bug spray. You definitely need a hunting/fishing/conservation pass. We got approached by a ranger.

Kite Trail has a lot of off-shoots that can be confusing, but Bison Trail is very well marked. We saw buffalo (2), lonhorns (3), a snake, (1) black widow, and 5 other people (that's it!). I was surprised how few people were out there, given that we hiked it on Labor Day. When we arrived a little after 8 AM, we were the only car in the parking lot. It was great!

There were tons of tiny ticks. Bring lots of bug spray and water. This trail took about 2 miles an hour due to all the twists and turns. It's very easy to get going in the wrong direction. Parts of the trail are hard to determine if you are on the right one. There are so many trails to choose from. I will definitely go back in the fall once the tick have gone.

Quiet, well maintained, scenic trails. Perfect for family walks and bike riding.

Trail map above is not accurate; this is a looped trail. Trailhead is directly across from Dogwood Campground on 259A. Beautiful, short trail... nice little incline on the way out.

Great little hike!

Have only done a few small sections of this trail...nice views but poorly marked in some places.

Poorly marked and overgrown in most places. No clear path after creek crossing.

Enjoyed our first hike at Beavers Bend. Beautiful trail with nice views of the lake. Saw a few other hikers with dogs on the trail; likely busier than normal as it is Labor Day Weekend.

Great place for walking, running, biking and roller blading. So heavily trafficked it feels safe. Only drawback is lack of lighting, making it very hard to do early morning runs.

Way too much sand. That’s the only challenge. The trail is just a trail. I don’t know what the trail maker was thinking. Get rid of that sand. 3 hour drive to ride on a bike beach.

Great hike

Worth the hike, definitely a lot of uneven terrain, took my five year old up and she made it, but she had to scoot down a lot of parts on her backside or me holding her hand. A couple of spots in the trail that cause you to zig when you should of zagged to get to the top of the trail, this app helped a lot when it came to those situations. Not much shade either so plan accordingly.

This a great hike. The view is amazing.

This trail doesn’t offer anything challenging other than the annoying sand at every turn. Useless if you ask me. That would be the only challenge on this trail. Save your time and pick another trail

Nice easy hike but nothing spectacular. I was the only one on the trail which was nice. Did this trail primarily because I made the trip to see the waterfall so why not hit this trail as well. The path was clear and easy to follow.
