Across the street from my neighborhood, I use the garden and nearby park for running and walking the dogs. The gardens are very popular with photographers and Pokémon Go players.

quite a bit of trash and heavily trafficked

One of my favorite places to ride. It starts on 10th and council and connects all the way to the OKC river where you can continue all the way to the boat house with dedicated trails and loop back for a 30mi ride if you choose. This section here is around 8mi each direction. It’s very secluded with lots of dress and is very nicely maintained .......hope they keep it up!
They are continuing to develop it making more access points all along the trail for people who live in different parts. You pass a couple of nice lakes making the hole trip very rewarding.

Great for biking/walking

Best trail in central Oklahoma it makes you feel like your by the the sea side with a harbor filled with friendly people and good restaurants what they need to do is put hotels by the lake.

Running at the lake can be one of the best or worse places depending on the wind. If it’s remotely windy you will feel it all at the lake. I’ve ran around this lake 3-4 times a week for the last decade and it’s a nice place to exercise, sail, or go to a restaurant. I wish it had better restroom facilities, but if you really need better than a porta potty you can go to Louie’s or Lake Hefner Golf club. Lake Hefner connects to Overholser over by MacArthur and Britton and Nichols Hills on Grand on the east side of the lake.

I love walking around the wall that surrounds most of the lake. I feel safe being out in the open and there are trash cans to discard poop bags.

Definitely a beautiful park. Lot's of shade and rest along the way. I added the additional (apparently new, not as shady) path along the southeast side (not actually a part of the park) to add distance.

Went there today. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Took lots of pictures. Will be back.

Awesome trail! Be warned of the wind, if it is windy. It can make your mileage feel twofold.

Nice paved wide path, no bicycles allowed. Long stretch beside a very busy and noisy four lane road. Look out for frisbee golf discs, path crosses the course in a couple of places.

Great paved trail that runs along the North Canadian River on the west side of Oklahoma City. Connects to the Lake Overholser trail at the north entrance. Runs along Crystal Lake as well. There's also a second entrance to the trail off of W. Reno Ave. I use this trail for running but see lots of people on bikes as well. It's fairly secluded and quiet. There's also a small fenced area where you can see a bison and elk roaming (good place to stop if you're bringing kids).

I travel to OKC for work pretty often and have never gotten the chance to check out the trail. Had an opportunity to stay for the weekend and Lake Hefner was top on my agenda. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a great trail, with a couple of surrounding parks to stop and take a break if you are doing the whole loop. Not a lot of cover/shade but luckily it was a great day. Then there was the Redman Triathlon going on, got a chance to cheer on some really great people.

Fun for family. The Stars and Stripes park is nice.

The trail is unmarked which can make it a little hard to navigate the first time around. It is a great trail to run in the winter although the one bubbler I was able to spot from the trail was not in working order.

Usually pretty busy, but a safe place to ride a road bike, walk, or run. This is my favourite area for running in Oklahoma City, and great for road biking, too. It's not very forested though, so you definitely need sunscreen and water in the summer!

This trail is best for the road bike. There's little to no cover, so bring extra water and sunscreen in the warm months, especially if you're walking/running. It's usually pretty crowded, but there's always decent parking. There's a few good restaurants with nice outdoor patios if you wanted to kick back after a ride or run.

This is my favorite spot to ride or run after work. This is a 9 mile loop around Lake Hefner with very little exposure to vehicle traffic; however, be prepared to share the trail with walkers, runners, kids and roller bladders. There are also some nice restaurants on the East side of the lake to stop at for a lakeside break.

Decent size city lake with a community golf course attached. It is a pleasant little get-a-way on the Northwest side of OKC that is tattered with various paved and off-road trails. The lakeside amenities found around it vary with choices like different outdoor sports, restruants, bars and shopping venues. This area is always buzzing with people and an obvious social hot spot too.

Great paved trail for family and other riders. Path goes around the lake and passes by some restaurants, marinas, golf course, and some residential area. Good for an enjoyable cruise but can be busy. Not really a getaway place but still nice for people who want to cruise or do road type riding
