I personally think this is the best spot in the park. But I do add extra trails to turn it into a loop, otherwise it's far too short. I like the isolation and scenery I find off trail here. Explore some in the east once you pass the boulder field, just below Elk Mountain.

On the way up, I didn't use the trail. The trail is rated as a hard trail, but we made it stupid hard. the group split. Half stuck to the trail, while the other half risked death and climbed. Great view, great bouldering, constant wind, and the rocks will hurt. It's a relatively short hike with moderate to difficult terrain. You shouldn't get lost if you've ever been on a hike before. We hit the trails from mid fall to spring, because ticks are everywhere in this state and the heat makes the rocks miserable.

The trail is clearly marked with orange bands around the trees thru the whole trail. The foot bridge is closed until further notice. WARNING! You won’t know it is closed, until you cross it. There is a gate on the other side that is locked closed. The bridge on highway 10, is a little nerve racking, not much room to walk on the Bridge itself. The trail was very clean.

We started out on the trail along the east side of the river toward Stephens Gap. We hiked up to the road and crossed over the damn. However, once we came back down where the trail is located using the GPS on this App, we were never able to locate the trail. We hiked up the mountain along the trail on the GPS, but we were obviously not on a trail. We wasted about and hour and a half and 2 miles hiking in different directions trying to pick up the trail again. Never happened. We drove 3 hours to get here. Pretty disappointing.

Nice trails & plenty to explore! Its a park you can come and actually spend all day or night.. Nice swim area and play ground camp sites and cabins are nice and they have a few yurts as well. If lakes and creeks are not your thing to cool off in they have a nice pool too. Overall cool place...

Easy trail, but if it has rained within a week around this or the ChPn trail, don’t bother unless you like mud. Summertime spray with off spray big-time.

Nice trail but a little wet at times. Several little creeks to cross. Saw a beautiful gray fox on this trail today as we were hiking up to the fault line area. I would have given this trail five stars but for the fact that the entrance gate to the parking lot is sometimes locked.

easy trail. well maintained. VERY BUSY.

Fri Feb 15 2019

I prefer trails with less traffic honestly. Other than that it is a great trail, lots of ups and downs with a beautiful views

Fri Feb 15 2019

easy trails! went in February almost NO traffic. saw some deer. trails aren't well kept but had a lot of fun.

To do alone it's a nice path. The trails are really narrow to do with a group or with pets. I constantly have to get over on the side where the thorns, cacti and such are to let others with dogs pass or bicyclists who don't give warning that they are behind o u to pass.

The hardest part about the trail is the mud. Other than that, it's super easy and wildlife to be seen!

Trail was awesome. The bridge part on the highway was a bit sketchy but other then that it was great. I will for sure be coming back for a longer trek.

Did this trail with my 10 year old daughter today. Nice trail, easy to do. Great for kids. Beautiful rock formations and green moss everywhere, which was a welcome sight on this dreary day.

This hike wasn’t too bad. Some of the early reviews state that it’s challenging, really it’s only slightly bad between mile 2-3 and it’s less then a mile. Another one marked off!

Easy nature trail with gorgeous views of Baldy. There are fun scrambling areas along the southern face of Baldy that are neat for kids. Please be cautious of snakes in the summer. Baldy is first and foremost a technical climbing area and is taken care of by the Wichita Mountains Climbing Coalition. Please be respectful of the area and aware of climbers! Day use ONLY. No camping. No fires. Pets must be leashed.

This is the Cedar Valley Trail. This is an easy, flat, wide, & short trail for all ages. The trail gives great views of the backside of Baldy and an introduction to many of the plants and trees native to the area. The north half of the trail loop is improperly marked on here and does not exist. The trail connects to other trails such as Black Jack Pass, Baldy, and the Cedar Creek trails.

This trail was quick and not too difficult. We took the dogs and had a great time, the views were incredible. The walk up the mountain is mostly steps, but there is a rocky portion at the top that could be tricky for kids or people with lower mobility.

My family enjoyed this trail. It was moderately difficult in some places but easy enough that our 5yr old had almost no trouble. There were many beautiful scenic vistas, quiet forest paths, and enormous boulders to explore. The trail was clear, well marked with orange blazes, and easy to follow. We took a water filter to take advantage of the plentiful water sources - this lightened our daypacks considerably. The water was delicious, cold, and clear. We enjoyed a picnic lunch at Box Springs campground. This trip was just for the day but we're already making plans to come back and hike more miles and backpack camp at least 1 night. We had the place almost completely to ourselves - only one other couple was seen - and it was amazing!
