This was an awesome trail! We had our five year old with us and she had a great time. This trail has a nice gentle incline that takes you up to a gorgeous overlook. It is well maintained, there are wooden boards over muddy areas and it was well marked. There is an overflow parking lot to the left of where google maps takes you. We clocked in at about 4.73 miles in 2 hours 41 minutes. There is also a beautiful creek along the way. We will definitely be back and was well worth the trip from Cincinnati.

The hike to the overlook was beautiful. Didn’t take too long to get there and wasn’t strenuous. There were nice little waterfalls along the way , and also some small caves. The Trail was clean and marked well. Once you pass the overlook it does become very muddy in spots and there really isn’t much to see. Probably would turn around at the overlook next time.

Went for a hike with the dogs on Mother’s Day, trail was in great condition, rained just a bit the last 0.7 miles, but had a great time. View is awesome from the point!

Well maintained trail with gorgeous views at the end and an interesting creek along the way. The later in the day it is, the more crowded the trail. I started around 8:30 and only encountered a couple of people but there were a lot getting started as I was headed out. It’s muddy right now but there are makeshift 2x4 wood bridges through the worst parts.

A nice forest walk to a decent view-can’t hold a candle to what you’ll find deeper in Appalachia but not bad for the location. Easy trail with a gentle climb, the shorter leg of the loop has one decently steep climb. Trail is well maintained. The route on AllTrails must be old-the trailhead is further east on 125 and on the south side of the road.

was a great short hike go when the creeks are running good to see water fall great hike though.

Joan Portman Trail to Flood Point Overlook. Very muddy and slippery but a nice view at floods point.

We went on Sunday to do our weekend trail hike. Got there early and it was great, trails were not that muddy and no one there. Beautiful views of rock formations, water features and stunning 360s once you reach the end of the trail. Started getting VERY busy around lunch time. Unfortunately people were bringing dogs in (it literally turned into a dog park in a matter of hours), and you could tell the people who normally would not hike as they had a hard time with trail manners and social distancing. I'd recommend getting there as early as possible to enjoy views and not worry about crowds.

I thought the scenery was great, but the maps loaded into AllTrails, as the other reviewers have said, shows an extra leg of this trip that is not part of the trail. It feels like you’re walking through 3-4 different parks on this hike as you change elevations. Very cool

This is a great, paved and very flat little trail perfect for families and pets. Lots of benches, grills, and a playground and plenty of geese for the toddler to look at.

I thought this was a fun, even-paced hiked that was consistently challenging. The way out is just as challenging as the way in. This hike took me about 2.5 hours and I stopped to take in the scenery in several places. The final scenic viewpoint is stunning with a 270 degree view. I suggest taking the longer portion of the loop on the way up to the viewpoint to avoid the stretch of steep climbing on the shorter route. Great hike!

Nice little trail to a nice little view. Took the parents out for a day hike and they enjoyed it. Views are decent for what you’ll get in Ohio but feel a bit like a bargain Red River Gorge. Trail is easy to follow and well maintained.

This is the kind of trail I love - in the woods away from society with elevation change and water. The parking area is small, but given the time of year I was there that wasn't an issue. I was the one of three vehicles when I arrived and the only one still there when I left. Not hard to imagine that being an issue during busier times of year. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. It was slicker than I expected, but no big deal there. There were only a few spots that were truly muddy. I came close to turning around before I reached the trail's namesake because I was cutting it close to be able to get back before dark. I turned on the gas instead of turning around & I'm sure glad I did. Awesome view - especially if you have it to yourself!

My wife and I hiked the loop out to the buzzards rock today and enjoyed every step of the trail. The trail is well maintained and the reward of the beautiful overlook at the end should motivate anyone to go the distance. I would highly recommend this trail to everyone!

This trail has now been incorporated into the Buckeye Trail.

Nice hike . I think it will be spectacular in April when the wildflowers are in bloom.

I took my 2 small grandsons, ages 2 and 4, and dry lived out as much as I did. It is very beautiful and the trail is well maintained. It is one of the best hiking trails I have found around southern Ohio so far. I look forward to going back.

Was a pretty walk in October, though was much shorter than stated as it was only 4.4 miles round-trip. Highly recommend the 1.2 mile section to the right versus the Prairie walk to the left views are great at the end. Were lots of people walking with their dogs today. Pretty well-maintained trail.

Great trail-well marked-well maintained

this trail was great well maintain great scenery plan to come back in the fall but it will be beautiful

Great and well maintained trail. Amazing view at the end. I don’t typically like in an out trails but it does give you an option for a little loop see you can have some different views truly enjoyed this trail I was able to see several people today so you can tell it’s pretty popular but it wasn’t so crowded but it was on enjoyable

Awesome trail! Will definitely be back

Very nice hike. Has a little of everything; water crossings, hills, roots, fields, etc to traverse and see. Great views at the end (which is the midway point as you turn around there) to greet you. Would definitely recommend and wish to return as the leaves change.
