Nice easy trail. Little muddy at places but mostly clear. The archery range is nice as well.

This is a very easy trail, with no elevation changes. However, there are numerous tree roots along the trail, and surfaces can get slippery, so folks who struggle with their footing should take note. Pets are not permitted because the site is not a park but is instead a state nature preserve, and hundreds or thousands of dogs per year on the trails could certainly impact the behavior of the wildlife in the preserve, which is abundant. Frogs, snakes, turtles and numerous birds can be seen on almost any trip. Deer frequent the area but usually clear out immediately once the trail begins to see traffic. Beaver activity is obvious throughout the preserve, but the beavers themselves are unlikely to be seen except around dawn or dusk. Otters and muskrats can be seen on occasion, as can owls and bald eagles. Migratory waterfowl are prevalent in the spring and fall. Bugs, including biting flies, can be so bothersome from late May through the end of July that it may be unwise to use the trail during these periods.

Nice trail for early spring once the snow had melted. Good wildlife viewing. The ponds are lovely. Boardwalks can be a bit slick.

If you like lakes, you should check out this trail.

Beautiful trail, especially in the winter! It was definitely muddy and short, but worth doing.

Trails flat and well maintained. Good views of swamp.

Winds between several fairly stagnant ponds, so the insects are intense and aggressive. Interesting scenery and mix of boardwalk and gravel, so it would probably be great to vist outside of the buggiest months.

Difficult to find but checked ODNR website for directions.. looked sketchy but turned out to be a decent trail. Primitive with some boardwalks. Be sure to wear bug spray with DEET; there are ticks in the area.

Northman, my dog and I have been hiking many of the trails across Northeast Ohio and not once have I come across a trail where you could not take your pet. I am a responsible dog owner and clean up after him. I found this trail and saw some of the pictures and was like let's pack up and go. 30 minute drive later we pull in to the parking lot and I see a sign that says no pets. What a big disappointment it was. I'm sure it's a beautiful trail but I would give it 0 stars if I could just for the reason no pets are aloud.

Did the short hike (about a mile) around the large lake. Went in July around dinner time. The bugs were insane, even with bug spray on. A lot of the trail is sloped away from the lake so you're constantly walking with the ground slanted to the side. It might have been tolerable if not for the bugs.

I have tried to find this trail and so far no such luck. There is a sign but it seems to lead to what looks like someone's driveway. The gps takes you to the other side of the street where the train tracks are. I've even asked a person walking their dog near the path signage and they seemed to be unaware of the trails existence. Will check back to see if anyone else has found the start of the trail and where to park.

I haven't checked out the trail off Old Mill Rd but we did try the trail around the pond just before the archery area. It is quiet and peaceful but not good for running. It can get narrow with low hanging branches, bushes and grass on the trail. It's nice for an evening stroll at sunset, which is beautiful. Watch for geese feces on the grassy area.

The archery is great though. Must have your own bow and arrows. It's a great place for all ages to safely practice.

A very wild trail! It could be nice, although it is VERY overgrown through much of the trail and could be extremely muddy. Very quiet and not many people at all.

This is my favorite place to wander. I love that these trails are relatively unexplored. A few years ago, a ofriend and I spent an afternoon on the observation deck without encountering any other person. Today there were at least seven others. So, maybe people are finding this beautiful place. It was litter-free and I pray it stays that way.

One of Ohio's many Nature Conservancy sites... Boardwalk only goes so far then begins a dirt trail that winds up in and through the woods. Great birding-botany hike. As with all NC sites the trail is left "natural" so wear pants, long sleeves and watch where you step. One of Ohio's many Nature Conservancy sites... If you access the park from Old Mill Rd instead, that is much better for trail running. Lots of great loops and turns through ponds and over boardwalks.

Not a great trail running course. If running too fast you are bound to sneak up on a big snake or geese and their gooslings. On the other hand if you are hiking and looking for wildlife, this is a great place to hike.
