Love hiking here with my dogs

Was a little confused on how to get to the trail, but was very fun to hike and explore! Didn’t get far enough to see the waterfall but i guess that means i have to go back (:

I think the only way to enjoy this hike is after either a several week drought in the summer or weeks of below freezing in the dead of winter. The mid was really awful and it took us forever to finish due to all of the slipping and slopping. The best parts were that it is well marked, good ups and downs and of course Blue Hen Falls in the beginning.

The campsite we stayed at had a trail that lead to Old Man's Cave so we decided that would be where our journey would start. We traveled downhill and through a small construction site where the new Visitors Center is being built and headed for the cave. It was like stepping into another world as the trail transitioned from dense forest to an open rocky gorge with running waterfalls and sandy pools. The stone bridges and steps that twist and turn through the gorge were fantastical. I had high expectations but these were quickly surpassed by the views and cliff faces.

Nice trail about 200 feet of elevation difference, river, waterfalls and old woods.

Pros: good distance for a quick, easy hike.
Cons: Trail is not well marked, there are numerous side trails, and in some areas the trail is so rarely traveled, it is difficult to tell what is the trail.

We went while it was snowing... so a handful of places were icy. It was beautiful, very quiet and a fun adventure to start our day! It was marked very well. I can only imagine how beautiful it is during the fall!! We only did the big/little Lyon Falls. Then back to the cover bridge and down to hog hollow! Can’t wait to come back.

Good hike almost 4 miles. Always like seeing the falls. First time taking this trail.

I’d rate this a 3.5. The back half of trail by the river was lovely. Nice opportunity for pics. We also enjoyed a few off trail adventures out on the bluffs. Perfect for dogs. Not too many people. A lot of trash near the river. We made this a 3.6 mile hike by exploring the bluffs and river. I’ll be back.

Good views and hills. Hard to believe your only an hour from Columbus.

First time at this trail and was happily surprised by how nice it was. Ended up being around 4 miles with nice elevation changes. Took our 9 month old border collie with us and she had no troubles. We went counter clockwise and enjoyed the small waterfall at the end of the hike - for where we parked at. Really enjoyed this hike & I’m looking forward to going back in the summer!

Decent overall, but trail could use some maintenance. Also, I went today (March 12, 2018) and two significant portions of the trail were completely underwater.
Two stretches are along roads, one of which is quite busy.
Some nice secluded stretches and a pleasant stroll through Pioneer Village.

Trees down everywhere blocking many parts of the trail. Some apparently for months. Truly sad that park maintenance staff haven’t done their jobs. I probably could be a nice trail but not in its current state of disrepair.

Trail is beautiful and easy, stair cases and a beautiful view of the waterfall make this a treat to see. Easy for kids, so good as a family outing. Would see this again.

Can combine with the other out-back trail to make as much as 8 Miles. Be careful after heavy rains or snow melts...trail is pretty low and can have areas flood. Very well marked. Lot of wild life, deer are nearly tame. Clean bathrooms and lots of parking. Highly recommend

Very scenic! Was pretty greasy because of all the moisture so was fairly difficult throughout most of the hike! Will definitely revisit when it dries out!

Was a nice walk. Pretty wet this time of year which makes it super muddy! A little bummed that there are houses so close to parts of the trail. Will hike again during a drier season.

This is a beautiful place.

Beautiful, awesome trail !!!

This is a beautiful trail. My son (8) and I always choose the Gorge because it is definitely one of the prettiest hiking areas near us. We started going when my son was only 5, and he could keep up and handle it then. It definitely is a little tricky in some spots tho. The rock formations are amazing. You have to walk through two rocks that are split apart and that’s really cool for a kid (and me) to do. There is a huge rock that sticks out over the walking path and you are able to go underneath it and there are teeny tiny waterfalls that you can see coming off that rock in the warmer weather. It definitely worth taking a look at it!!! A lot of great pictures and memories were made there

Nice peaceful walk only saw a few other people. Wildlife is plentiful but I prefer a bit more seclusion. Several spots along the upper portion of the trail you pass very close to housing.

Hard, but well worth it!

fun short hike with the kids

Very nice! Scenic, flat, paved path to walk, run or bike on. I wish it had more portable potties on the path.

Great hike and the twin sisters were great. The smaller stream in front of the mudcatcher was pretty high so I had to cross it closer to the 82 bridge just off the unpaved section of the towpath trail that veers off of the paved trail. The crossing was right before the iron walking bridge before the un paved trail connects with the paved trail again.

beautiful scenery for the area with plenty of history to accompany the views! Lots of areas to enjoy and change up for additional visits.

It’s good for Columbus - however, if you’re looking for real hiking and views, you’d prolly be best to hike another trail outside of Columbus.

The trails themselves were great... however, this app description says the trails are pet friendly for leashed dogs~ the signage at each trail said differently....
NO PETS. We drove here with our dog to walk on these trails.

A nice little hike for the area! Not strenuous in any way, flat terrain with the creek for viewing. My dog loved playing in the water so that’s always a plus!

great trails
