Great views and I enjoyed the fire tower. The negative side was how bad the jigers and mosquitoes got me despite spray! I went back in August and got eaten alive, weeks went back and my skin was still healing! It was the worst in my life!

Great trail! Short easy hike with fantastic views.

Beautiful waterfalls and views of Ohio’s foothills, along with a diversity of trails.. I plan on visiting this trail in all seasons!

There is a cemetery from the 1800s which I though was an interesting point in the trail. The pine forest is owned by the paper factory and is being cut down- I’m excited to see what the preserve does with the area. Lots of water features long the way.

My son and I enjoyed this challenging trail. It was hard to navigate in a few spots, and we spent quite a bit of time going over or under downed trees, but that adds to the fun. Thank goodness for the frequent red blazes.... otherwise we’d have been lost. Hiking poles helped on the super steep parts, and I used them to fight off all of the thorny bushes. We were disappointed that the fire tower was not climbable- the bottom flight of steps was removed.

Pretty hiking trail. It is being rerouted so the long loop is closed. Our dog loved it, water features, deer and lots of trees. I saw lots of types of mushrooms. It is muddy, as other reviewers have said. I will return in the fall for the foliage.

Nice trail, clearly marked and nice cliff views from the top.

The trail runs along a creek and is flat, mostly shaded, well maintained, not too much traffic, with good parking, portapotties and a picnic shelter on the Frankfort side.

Disappointed. Not well marked. Not well maintained. Very “buggy “ today. Stopped at little camp store for bug spray and they told us the other side of the trail was not groomed yet. Where we did hike was not groomed well. We walked the road back. Bummed.

Very poor markings. Took me nearly 20 minutes to walk around the park just to see where the trail started. There is a sign that shows what trails are available, but doesn’t show where they start. Plus I ended up going on a trail I didn’t even want to. That’s how poor it’s marked. But the Spring Run Trail is very easy to accomplish.

We did this trail in conjunction with the Hoggard Trail today. Very well maintained with amazing views. Charted right at 1.6 miles.

I enjoyed this trail quite a bit. We went today and did both this trail as well as the South Loop and GPS tracked it at 5.58 combined. The trails were well marked and fairly well maintained. It's not a busy area, and we only saw a few people. The pine forest area was particularly spectacular.

The scenery, the ambience, nature herself was top form, but these trails are horribly marked! I ended up fording streams, climbing over fallen trees and walking ten miles in 85 degree heat to get back. By the time I passed the park office I was bloodied, dehydrated and covered in mud. The ‘helpful’ staff told me how far it was to my starting point but didn’t ask about my condition, or offer to get me there. Not a great park, definitely a great workout.

Not very well marked.

Mostly two person wide trail. Fairly flat considering the foot hills that it’s in. Easy enough that my four year old was able to hike 95% (but she is used to hiking). On a Sunday afternoon, with great weather we saw about 5 other people.

Poorly marked trail on the lower loop. Lots of down trees.

We went after a snowfall and did the long loop. It took us about 2 hours to trek in our snow gear. The “Mystical Forest” snow covered trees was our favorite highlight. Mildly hilly balanced with flat terrain.

Halfway through the Caldwell/fire tower trail and the trail just stops, completely lost to logging in the area; other 2 trails were decent but not marked at all.
