Nice outing. Wife and I really enjoyed it.

very short easy hike

Nice walk through the woods. Took my two year old son and I about an hour to walk the loop.

Just so there is no confusion, the parking for the quarry is across the street from the trailhead. There is a trail just next to the parking lot that we initially confused as the quarry, but they aren't the same. The Quarry Trail offers some canopy on the rim surrounding the quarry, but the quarry itself is completely exposed to sunlight. There were several Turkey or Pigeon Hawks flying overhead but otherwise not a lot of wildlife. Over all it is a pretty nice outting but nothing spectacular. The trail on the side of the parking lot is in the woods with plenty of canopy overhead. Both trails would be suitable for mountain biking and another outting is in the making.

Took two families with teens and did the 2 mile loop. Just long enough to stretch our legs and a few small things to interest the kids. A nice way to enjoy an hour!

So thankful that the MetroParks support and encourage geocaching.

Saturday chores? I don't think so. Fabulous, blustery, 63 degree, sunny, mid February day. I'm outa here! Absolutely fabulous hike at Castalia Quarry. Main trail is a two mile loop on an easy, wide gravel road. I took just about every side trail I could find and there were plenty to be had. Some easy, some more challenging, but all beautiful and totally worth it. Beautiful wetlands and lots of old signs of life around the area.

My favorite trail I've ever been too! Would highly recommend to others

This is a closed loop trail of bed rock and limestone pebbles. It's on the Tim of an old limestone quarry and goes around in a moderate graded hill. I personally use it for hill training for runs. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Have never seen any mountain bikes but the tracks get there somehow. In this relatively flat area it offers some great views from the lookout tower. Sandusky bay bridge and the Davis besse cooling tower are visible. There are also shorter trails accessible from the parking lot.
