It rained three days ago and the trail was impassable. Had to turn around and ditch our hike.

It was a nice trail. We had a lot of rain this week, so there was a section that was too muddy to hike. I’ll definitely be back.

Trail was very well marked. Lots of benches along the way. Very muddy but high levels of rain this week so that was to be expected. Loved the challenge of the ups and downs.

not the best scenery. The lake was nice but that was about it. The trail had really large wood chips all the way through it. It was decent with shade and sun exposure but it was relatively boring. did not love walking through all of the campers.

Great park. I jog here every day. Haven’t seen it closed at all so not sure how that got reported. It’s open and it’s great.

The Lakeshore trail at Lake Vesuvius is hands down my favorite trail. During the weekend of May 15th-16th, it was pouring incessantly. My group arrived at the trail around 9:00 pm Friday, so we had a little bit of daylight left to mount our packs. Once we were ready, we hiked clockwise around the lake. Since you are not allowed to camp on the Lakeshore trail, our goal was to reach the fork of the Lakeshore trail and Backpack trail. We hiked up the Backpack trail, and we set up camp after hiking for only five minutes. The rest of the night was peaceful with the calming sound of the downpour. Unfortunately, we woke up covered in mud, but our camp the night before was a bit of a scramble, so make sure everyone knows how to pitch up a tent and bring a tarp! Hiking a Saturday could not be any better than that day. Approaching the halfway point, it was obvious that the mud was getting thicker, but that's part of the adventure. Part of the trail was actually gone because the water was so high. I thought we reached halfway since the trail appeared to disappear, but it actually continued. The halfway point itself was too deep (you had to swim) in order to cross, so we went back to the aforementioned disappearing portion of the trail and waded the water from there (about waist deep). After going through mud and a few smaller streams, we settled down to eat Mac and Cheese. The rest of the trail was gorgeous and full of beauty. I cannot express into words how much awe I experienced in that short time. We found an overlook cliff area and took some pictures. By the time we reached the boardwalk, it was around 3:00 pm. The place was PACKED. I could not believe the amount of people present that day. Overall, a fun time for everyone, especially for some of the first time backpackers I had with me. 10/10 would come back again!

What a fun hike. Several different types of terrain throughout. Some challenging steep hills along the ridge, a few creek crossings. Pretty muddy but we didn't mind too much.

Beautiful trail. Definitely would call this more of a moderate hike. I’m extremely active and noticed several people having difficulty navigating some muddier areas with steeper climbs and descents. Make sure you have proper hiking shoes for this one. Quite a few steps to the decking and there are great waterfalls to enjoy. The creek was bed is a beautiful hike if you are not worried about possibly getting wet and a little more adventurous. For a shorter trail, it’s still definitely worth the visit.

Do you like mud? Then here's the trail for you! Absolutely all encompassing, constant, comical amounts of mud. Probably the most consistently muddy trail I've been on. Granted, it's the middle of May and we've had some rain, but still. Did the long loop in one fell swoop, a long day hike. I've done it twice before, once as a two night backpacking trip and once as an overnight. It's pretty typical of these rural Ohio Appalachian long trails. Not a whole lot going on but a chance to be pretty solitary out in the woods.

entire section of lakeshore trail on the lake closed. observation tower closed, all beach access closed.

Two day backpacking trip, 4 miles first night, 22 miles next day, counterclockwise. Not bad. Some overgrown and lots of mud, but decent enough and worth it. Some nice ridgeline views but nothing spectacular. Not many water options, so bring it with you.

Did the long loop and stayed overnight. Very peaceful.

Loved this trail and the bridges. So many different directions you can take. Very steep hills though should’ve wore my boots

Walked it clockwise from Boat Ramp to Dam. Measured right at 8.0 miles. Only had 1 area where I questioned my decision and luckily made the right call. After crossing the water at the midway point it was a little swampy for a few hundred yards as referenced in the previous review. Other than that area it was fairly dry. It was my first time all the way around and I did it in just a little over 3 hours.
