Not maintained. Could see trail markers through the briars but had to go off trail to complete the ”loop”.

Went hiking with my dog and enjoyed the views. It’s short and sweet but had a lot to look at. The forest is beautiful with the pines towering over you. We also saw some turkey buzzards near the lake doing their mating stance. Even though it’s not a long hike, would recommend this hike for anyone that enjoys nature.

the trails was not hard but was not easy. Do not recommend strollers. Beautiful but disappointing to not get to close to the cave.

The hike was beautiful! there were some steep climbs but a lot of elevation changes. Over all a fun trail.

Short trail that gets close to the lake. Rock outcroppings and lots of fauna to see. I spooked a deer by getting within 10 feet of where it was secluded in some brush next to the trail. Also chipmunks that let me get close. I recommend taking the trail clockwise for an easier return to the parking lot. Look for the tepees. Parts of the trail at the beginning were muddy due to wet weather of the past 18 months. And there were some overgrown spots of ground cover and a grove of paw paw trees. The trail, however, is well marked. Yes, you are going to see some poison ivy. You’re in the woods so it should not be a surprise.

This is one of my most favorite of places. The trail starts with a pine tree forest of pure beauty! You literally walk thru the pine trees as if a gateway to an enchanted peace filled getaway. It hadn’t rained for a while when we went but the trail was super muddy. We had to do a lot of walking beside the trail in places as it was just so muddy!

The trail is only 4.5 miles long. Not 8.8. It looks as though some people once they get to the end of the trail have chosen to walk down the main road (the one you come in on) until they reach another trail and then eventually loop back around to the Shadbush Trail. Overall, we enjoyed this trail. It starts off relatively easy, but does start winding up and down. Mostly downhill at the beginning, so you’ll be walking uphill on the way back. It’s a little bit of a workout, but not too difficult if you’re in decent shape. It was pretty muddy, but it had rained the entire week, so I imagine it wouldn’t be an issue if you waited until it hadn’t rained for a few days. There is shade almost all the way out, so the sun and heat is barely noticeable. A beautiful view of the lake. There are a few spots where you have to cross small bodies of water. (You can walk right through the water or walk across a fall tree.) A medium sized dog could handle this trail as long as you bring plenty of water. Would not recommend for small children.

White A&B at Salt Fork horse camp. Day 2. Going out to A loop more muddy than loop back. Take trail to right at start of B for easier trek back from B.

The purple trail. We rode 12 miles. Trails were well marked. Moderately muddy in spots but overall good based on recent weather. Weather was beautiful.

This is a horse trail. Not for hiking. Horses only.

This is a horse trail and was covered with deep hoof marks the whole way. Wouldn't recommend for hiking - you have to stare at your feet the whole time so you don't twist an ankle.

I came during the spring - super muddy and had to cross a creek which might not have been so bad during the drier summer months. Some downed trees covering parts of the trail. Gorgeous and peaceful, though!

My 9 year old son said it was fun doing it. The trail was short, exciting, & awesome.

The hike is not well maintained as the path is quite tiny. Also, it was covered in poison ivy. The rocks were cool to see on the hike, but didn’t get a great view of the lake.

Nice shades trail, however there was a lot of trees across the trail. I also thought we'd be able to get to the lake, but the bank drops off to the water.

Absolutely love this location and all the options it has to offer for family and friends. So many memories have been made here
