Did both loops this evening - great hike. Creek crossings were a breeze - water is low. Minimal mud too. Saw few flowers though. Dame’s Rocket is everywhere in CVNP right now, but only a couple small batches on this trail.

Great trail, but wear your hiking boots—it was really muddy the day we went. We had fun skipping rocks in the river!

Love coming here for a quick walk with my dog. Easy loop, with just enough incline to get a bit of a workout! Can get a bit muddy in spots and slippery after rain.

The Oxbow Trail and the Overlook Trail, are really great right now. They provide some wonderful scenery and there is signage encouraging social distancing and one way travel on the trails.

If you’re looking for a nice peaceful trail, with wooded scenery and some river views occasionally, the Oxbow Trail is a great choice. This trail also connects to the Overlook Trail, so if you go up the steep inclines near the riverbank, you can see the gorge from the top on the Overlook Trail as well.

Nice trail with mix of winding hills, wooded ravines, and open meadows. In heavy rain this trip, these became challenging stream crossings, mud slides, and swamped fields. Surprisingly, the wooded trail is fairly dry. Expect to have wet footwear and just ride it out for the hike, when it's raining; the solitude is worth the price.

This is a pretty, but short trail with a view of the valley. You have to take the valley link section to get down to the river we found out.

This has always been a decent hike but my most recent adventure was truly fun. Rugged ground and some fun stream crossings truly made this an adventure that wasn’t too hard but wasn’t a stroll through the park. It can be very muddy so be prepared but that can be part of the fun if you let it. Give this trail a go for sure.

I think the star rating system can be misleading. I give it 3 stars, not because it’s a bad hike but because it’s generally mediocre. It’s generally easy with a couple of inclines that could get you breathing heavy. Alder Pond which connects nearby is small but beautiful on a foggy morning. With the connecting trails it’s easy to turn this into a 4 mile hike. Worth a visit for sure but for me not a hike I’m likely to return to often.

Beautiful trail. Very pretty views from the top of the ridge.

Loved this easy trail. Awesome view! Handicap accessible, which is really nice. Great for a short walk or quick run!

What a wonderful trail. Some parts go along the mighty river with stunning views. Couple of moderate hills. Lots of deers and birds. Great condition.

Really good trail, took the longer route via Perkins. Some good off path sights and river walking

Really surprised by this trail!! I took the trail halfway around the loop where it goes down to the river (it’s steep) but there’s a hidden beach and it’s absolutely beautiful and totally worth it. Great leg workout and good workout for your pup as well!! Beautiful valley views as well and the trail is easy to walk but does have a good amount of incline.

I had memories of walking home from Thomastown School to Salem Avenue.with my sister in the mid to late 50s. I remember having to cross a creek that was changed colors depending on what chemicals were dumped into it. I saw the trail and when I walked it, it was a clear and clean run now. A sign described how Lockeed Martin spent big money to clean it up from the chemicals dumped into it and to return it to a clean water so fish and vegetation would return in the natural state. It is estimated that it is 12,000 years old or more. It's nice to see something from your childhood that is nicer than you remember it as a child.
