My sister and I hiked this with my 4-year old and 1-year old. We loved this trail! We used the guide booklet available at the trailhead to learn about the area and keep the kids engaged. The guide is very well designed, and we really enjoyed learning about how the different rocks formed and the why the rocks are the colors they are. It was a perfect hike for our group!

My sister and I hiked this with my 4-year old and 1-year old. We loved the trail! It has amazing views of the Little Missouri River and surrounding Badlands! There are some elevation changes that were challenging for my 4-year old, but she did just fine with a little help!

Loved this trail!! Amazing history! If you are going through the park, dont pass this one up!

Nice short hike with beautiful views. The colors are spectacular at this spot.

This one is pretty straight forward. Not a long trail, but it provides some good views of this portion of the Badlands. You can definitely see the coal layer of the Badlands along this trail.

Another trail in Teddy Roosevelt that we really enjoyed as a family. Great views of the river bend. Doesn't take a lot of time, so make sure you stop and enjoy the view. Posted some pictures, hopefully they will help with your trail planning!

We really enjoyed this hike. Plenty of stairs but they lead to great views of the badlands. Not a long hike. Buffalo tracks on the trail after you clear the stairs so be prepared for wildlife on this one. We enjoyed all our hikes in Teddy Roosevelt NP. I hope the pictures posted will help you with your trail planning!

Great views, creek crossing can be somewhat challenging. I joined this trail with the talkington ‘sp ‘ trail. Underestimated water usage. Temps over 90. Great way to experience the Park.

It was good. Nice easy trail and we saw a bunch of Buffalo off in the distance at sunset

Amazing views, paste your self on the trail unless you love stairs. Overall it kicked me and girlfriend butts and was definitely a good hike.

Wish the trail was longer, we had the chance to be 5 feet from a bison which was pretty awesome.

This is very short, and it's hard to even call this a trail. It's more like a scenic overlook, but the views were amazing overlooking the Little Missouri, and I saw a lone bison nearby.

The trail is a great way to experience the park. I did this on a 100 degree day in July, but the actual hike was not that challenging, providing you bring enough water. The biggest challenges were the flies and frequent crossings of a muddy creek.

Got my hopes up for this trail to see beautiful painted colors canyon. I was not impressed. I've seen better ones in other parks down in Arizona and Nevada. The trail was also steep and everything just seemed pretty dull. Maybe it was the wrong season for it? Who knows

Breathtaking and dusty! A perfect diversion from the drive on I-94. The entrance to the park is also a highway rest stop.

Due to past washout, the trail was hard to follow. With so many other spectacular trails in the park, this one isn't as impressive. I did spot a mule deer at close proximity along this trail.

Beautiful in its own way. Mostly arid and Little shade. Close up buffaloes and also a coyote. Lots of prairie dog villages.

This was excellent! I really enjoyed it and the solitude that was available. I went at 5pm or so, so there were not too many people. Great vistas.

This trail was hot, exposed and did not really reveal anything that cannot be seen from the overlook at the rest stop. I enjoy when there are reveals within a hike to new vistas. On this hike, you go down a ways only to come back to where you started without seeing much new. It was certainly good workout though.

The rest area and welcome center offer spectacular views with several options for hiking, whether you want to take a short walk into the painted canyon or you want to explore Teddy Roosevelt National Park in greater depth. The western access point offers the short loop to wet your appetite, while the eastern access point takes you down the painted canyon trail into the greater national park. You can't go wrong with either option.

A really fun hike, and a good warm-up for longer and more intense hikes, but we went after a major rainstorm and the mud turned this from a pleasant walking trail into a moderately grueling hike. Neat scenery, and a memorable experience scrambling up slippery mud slopes, but fair warning if you go during/shortly after heavy rain: you will be FILTHY by the end.

This is a beautiful trail that winds through the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. It can be used for backcountry camping which is what I did. I saw wild horses, buffalo and 3 prairie dog towns. If you are planning to backcountry camp on this trail heed my warning. There are many stream crossings throughout this trail. The water can not be filtered because it contains bentonite clay. It will ruin your filter. Bring the water you will need for your trip. Also heed this warning, make sure you pay close attention to the weather. My weekend had no rain in the forecast but a HUGE thunderstorm rolled through one evening. I woke up the next morning to find that the river crossings had risen to over my head. They don't call them the badlands for nothing people! It is a beautiful trail none the less!!

Watched the sunset from one of the lower points and it was beautiful. Definitely recommend finishing the day here, still very nice during the day too.

This was a nice warm up hike before i did some more hiking in the area. dropping in and coming out of the canyon wasn't hard at all. It didn't even seem like a 1.1 mile hike while doing it. It was awesome to see the different sediments up close, and being up close with nature with the interstate being right behind you.

Easy trail - but I have never seen anything like the landscape out here! It was amazing! Went early in the morning so a little cooler. Colors were incredible.
