flat terrain. Easy, level ground for those not looking for tough terrain, this is perfect. Great history!!... best part of the trail :)

I was here for the September long weekend. The hike was amazing and the trail was well marked. Most creek beds were dry or there was always a way to get through close to the trail so you never had to get wet. Lots of Bison herds so you do have to be looking for them as they tend to like using the trails as well. Everyone should try this trail and I would rate it a low moderate trail.

Nice easy hike with great views and some cool history! I went on a nice warm december day so the trail was a mix of ice and mud (bring boots). the road was closed leading to the trail so you have to walk about 5 minutes up the hill to get to everything. Saw some wildlife and my dog had a blast running through the prairie grass

Full disclosure: I did not hike the entire trail. Conditions were slick and my boots are just about ready to fall apart. But nonetheless this was a great hike that really did give you the feel of getting into the park. Would love to go back under different circumstances.

Nice stroll into the canyon starting at near the visitor center. This will give a flavor. Recommend the nearby 4.2 out-and-back just to the east of the visitor center. You'll likely see bison over there.

Gorgeous scenery. Loved the ridges and the rolling prairie grass. Lightly traveled- even on a weekend, I was the only person hiking although the campground was full. Trails very well maintained.

Had beautiful weather and did not encounter another person. Loved the scenery and saw a few buffalo. Well marked and easy to navigate.

Fantastic hike that not many other people enjoy. My first creek crossing would have been harrowing but I followed an animal trail and dipped into the creek at this point. Since it was late in the season the creek was very shallow and dry in areas and I was able to walk the creek bed and come out easily. Glad I didn't do this in the mud!

Did about 10 mile stretch between MM 60-70. Very well marked. Gorgeous scenery. Absolute serenity- I never saw another person. I was lucky to be there while it was dry. In wet weather, the mud would have made it a very different hike for me!

Beautiful views of the canyon. Seems very steep on the way down and we were a bit worried about having to hike back out, but it was honestly very manageable. Bring some water and give yourself time for breaks to catch your breath and enjoy the views

Very cool thing to see. We started off going to the south loop but shortly along the path a big bison came up along the trail blocking our way. We waited a while but ended up turning around and going north. This was a gorgeous part of the loop! It was quite chilly and windy.

Pretty views of the canyon and river. Nice way to get a birds eye view of some very cool landscapes. Very manageable walk with inclines.

Stunning views! Saw two large herds of bison. One young bull gave us a bit of a scare even though we stayed very far away (at least 200 yards) but be aware of your surroundings for sure. Also saw a gorgeous herd of 7 wild horses, a coyote, and tons of prairie dogs. The creek crossings were a bit tricky and we cut off the last 0.2 as we didn’t see a way to cross without getting soaked. Absolutely stunning and worth it!!

This one was by far my (and my wife's) favorite of the short trails in TR South. Beautiful views out across the rolling green hills below. We went to the end of the point and sat there and "grooved" on the land.

The higher elevation parts are the best. Saw just a few people and was glad because at one point I thought we lost the trail. Hiked with Donna Tomlinson.

Super easy & beautiful walk out to the remnants of the Old East Entrance. If this is at the end of your scenic loop (depending on which way you drive) it’s a nice way to stretch your legs and get up close to some prairie dogs!!

Loved this hike, Wind Canyon is beautiful! The fall colors just setting in against the light colored rocks. The red grasses were my favorite! You must see the sunset from there!
