Very simple, nice paved path. Great for dogs, kids and running.

It’s a great trail for children. I was able to show my son various plants and animals. There are signs that show you short cuts if you don’t want to walk the entire trail. There’s lots of shade too.

Flat and can use a stroller. Long trail if completed the loop for kids. Some areas in direct sun. Alligators present. Good day walk. Do not go at night unless local and know the area well.

Easy, fun walking trail with the kiddos and pup. There are gnomes and fairies hidden throughout.

Very clean trail, no fallen trees or any debris after Florence. Connecting neighborhood trails can cause some confusion so stay on the main trails if you don't know your way around. Recommend a hike on Sunday afternoon... The nearby church has bells that make for a very surreal experience amongst the fairy houses that pepper this trail....

Family walk, mushroom hunting.

Very nice city park. paved and sand trails to choose from. Park also has many amenities.

Fully paved walkway around the lake, sometimes along busy roads. Lots of garbage and usually heavily trafficked. Gators in the lake so don’t let your dogs go swimming! Closest thing you get to a good walking trail in Wilmington.

Nice, family-friendly, paved loop with a few sandy cut throughs a to add to or shorten the walk/hike.

Nice little trail and have walked it a few times over the years. It's even got several geocaches for those who like geocaching!

Within walking distance of my house and I frequently do my running here. The paved loop around the pond is relaxing and feels like a patch of nature in the suburbs. The nature path is well maintained and provides a small amount of solitude from domestic life, although the new neighborhood being built nearby is taking some of that away and some of the construction barriers overlap into the park and across the trail in one spot. Both the paved and nature paths are easy to walk and provide a minimal challenge.

One of my favorite trails in all of Wilmington! Perfect no matter what season (autumn might be my favorite though - you can actually see some leaves changing colors!)

We were in town and mom took me for a unexpected walk. It was fun but it was sidewalks and I like natural trails better. It was too cold out for mom so it was a short walk. They were doing a lot of maintenance work so it wasn’t scenic. I need to go back when mom’s not cold & the construction workers aren’t there.

It's a quick trail that takes about a half hour to walk the outside loop. There are some crossover paths that can shorten your walk if you prefer. The good: - Easy trail - Pretty scenery - A large pond with a man made dam and bridge on either side - Easy access from Wilmington or Hampstead - Trash cans along trail The bad: - Very short - Some repairs and debris clearing is still being done from Hurricane Florence - No restrooms

I love this trail because of it’s close proximity to northern Wilmington and the quiet shaded dirt/sand trail. On a typical day there are anywhere from 2-10 people on the trail when I am. Most have a dog along and about half of them are unleashed, but I’ve never seen a problem. Half of the dogs are unleashed...not the people. Some of the trail gets muddy after a heavy rain but it’s only for about 10 feet, so it’s easy to walk around. Plenty of free parking. When it’s sunny and hot I do my walking and jogging at Abby, or as it’s commonly called “Poplar Grove”. The best parking lot is on the north side of Poplar Grove Mansion which is also a great place to visit.

My favorite spot that I’ve discovered so far! It’s out of the busy-ness of Wilmington, clean, and neat things to discover here! Plus there are animals that often walk up to the fences for head scratches :)

Seriously disappointed. 75% of the “trail” is a sidewalk along the busy roads and neighborhoods and not even in nature. A woman was doing drugs in the bathroom. Trash everywhere, I have no idea how this place got so many stars

Shaded a lot of the way, easy trails. A lot of dogs.

Great little nature getaway in the middle of the city. Hike or bike this in the summer and you WILL see gators in the lake. So if you have never seen one in nature, this is a great way to see several.

Nice trail in the middle of the city. It is definitely a city park, not so much a nature trail. Paved and all maintained.

This is open again. I think they closed it due to hurricane damage

This trail is closed now when I went. There are private property signs posted, and a gate at the entrance

This is a perfect little walking trail when you just need to get away for about an hour. I put in my headphones and listen to relaxing music - EMDR bilateral stimulation is the perfect music for this trail. A stop on the bridge is a must do so you can see all the turtles swim up to it. I enjoy seeing all the cute dogs along the trail too.

Great short and easy loop trail. It has a brand new kayak launch but you have to walk in about a half mile to get to it. Make sure it’s high tide before you trek down.

Frequently walk this trail while pushing my four Shih Tzus in their dog stroller. Well-maintained park and lots of friendly dogs and people. I do both the inner and outer trails for a three mile adventure.

Very short walk. Finding a place to park can be a challenge. Did this trail several years ago while geocaching.

So nice wandering around off the paved path. VERY easy. Highly recommend.

This is a great local scenic trail that I have done many times with my four Shih Tzu companions on land as well as in my kayak along the lake's perimeter. Lots of wildlife including birds, turtles and alligators. It also has lots of geocaches for those into geocaching. There is even a neat Wherigo geocache "GC65EFK" which provides you a nice tour that follows this path.
