This has become one of mine and my girlfriend’s favorite trails at Stone Mountain.. I don’t believe it’s 2.2 miles as stated to Wolf Rock, it’s a fairly easy trail that leads to spectacular views.. We spent many hours there in a hammock enjoying the rewards from this trail..

My family and I were looking for a challenging trail to hike with a great view. This trail did not disappoint. My two kids 6 & 7 did great. Beautiful overlook at the top. Great trail

Def not an easy trail to hike but isolated and quiet. Super well marked until last mile. Back tracked about 4 times trying to find climb to summit, at mile 5 after steel drum in River below. I think it's the rough trail straight up the mountain side, but never confirmed.

My review is from the perspective of an amateur landscape photographer

This is an above average sunrise location along the BRP. The “hike” from the parking lot to the viewpoint is about 100 yards Anyone can do it unless you can’t negotiate stone steps.

There are some rocks that can be used for foreground interest but only if you are using a wide angle lens. The mountains are rather distant and I used a 28-135mm lens on a C-size sensor to highlight the mountains.

There are better sunrise landscape locations along the BRP but given the ease of getting to the viewpoint this would be a good choice for those with either limited mobility, young children or limited time.

Didn't see anyone for the time I was there. It had just finished raining made the start of cedar rock a little slick

Good starting trail a bit of an uphill walk to begin with then flattens out till you get to wolf rock with beautiful views

See my review of Stone Mountain Loop Trail. We added this onto the end of our hike. These are not major falls, but worth the walk because you can get next to (or in if you choose) the water easily at both. To get to lower falls you have to keep going on the main trail (forks off to the right for middle falls) and cross 2 streams going rock to rock (or walk through if you have water shoes or waterproof shoes.) You will come to a horse gate and you have to go through that for about another quarter mile to get to the falls. Middle Falls is a great place to soak hot feet!

Brought my 3 year old son on this trail we both loved it!

Beautiful trail for quite walk in the woods

Beautiful falls nestled close to the road. Hard to walk around but you can get close enough for great pics.

Very enjoyable hike.

Very East Trail

This trail go straight up, with an incline that will kick you a** if you are not trained on inclines. I run steep hills and train on 15% treadmill inclines for 4.5 mph at 1 hour, and this was not easy for me at all. But, I loved the challenge.

Trail had not one person on it, while all other Stone Mountain trails were wall-to-wall at the same time.

If you want to get away from the Stone Mountain amateur hikers, this is the trail for you.

The way back is steep downhill, which works different muscles. This may be a challenge for those not used to steep downhill, even though trained on inclines.

Great place to hike in and camp the night. My Daughter and I went there , had a great time. We also took MST to Devils Garden Overlook but be warned that at time we hiked it All Trail Classification is wrong. Devil Garden Overlook is an advance trail not moderate.

This trail is a advance trail and straight up almost the whole time. My daughter and I are new to hiking , this trail was out of our league. All trails has made a mistake classifying this as moderate. We did finally make it to over look but was hard to do. All in all view is worth it.

I drove three hours to explore this state park and this was hands down my favorite trail. I got there around 11am and I was literally the only person at the top. The view was stunning and a great place to eat my lunch and relax. Coming down I did run into about 30 people making their way up so the earlier you can get there the better.

on Cedar Rock Trail

You get nice views of Stone Mountain on this trail. Not a hard trail. Be sure to follow red blazes across Cedar Rock to find the other part of the trail. The one part of this trail that confused me was the end. I had a map that I was also going by. Once I reached the homestead there were no more red blazes. I continued down the gravel road until I ran into the Stone Mountain Loop Trail that led back to the lower parking lot. If this is the indeed correct way of doing this trail it would be nice to continue with the red blazes down to where you pick up the Stone Mountain Loop trail, which is blazed in orange. I could of done it wrong, I don't know. lol Just going by the map.

Nice trail. Not very long or hard. I believe there was one good steep hill to climb. Once I got to Wolf Rock the views were beautiful. You can walk out on the rock and hang out for a while. Made a loop out of the trail by hiking down Cedar Rock.

Nice views of Stone Mountain.

Perhaps we missed it. But we could not find the lower falls. Just ended up on a horse trail.

We discovered this part of Stone Mountain when we arrived at our usual parking lot only to find it completely full! There was some sort of event going on. But we had driven an hour from Winston-Salem and were not about to go back, so we kept driving until we found another parking lot (also nearly full), then went up the trail and chose what appeared to be the lesser trafficked path that split off about a quarter-mile from the trail head. Wolf Rock did not disappoint! Fewer people, amazing views. We did a full loop and made it to Cedar Rock as well, explored the old abandoned buildings in the valley, and of course checked out the old homestead on the way back. We've gone back multiple times and we always take the Wolf Rock Trail, then loop back via Cedar Rock. Highly recommended.

We took the Stone Mountian Loop Trail & Blackjack Ridge Trail to Wolf Rock. We came down Wolf Rock Trail to finish a 4.2 mile loop. Great Trail in the winter with several nice views.

Easy hike, beautiful.

This trail is the much easier version of the Stone Mountain Loop Trail which starts from the same parking lot (much steeper portion of the loop). I almost prefer this hike to the Stone Mountain Loop Trail because it was much quieter and provided a very similar view. If I could rate this trail a 6 I would!

This trail has a moderately steep consistent incline to the end of the hike. The 180 degree view from atop the exposed limestone is worth the trip up.

Didn't go to Middle Falls, but made it to the Upper Falls and the Lower Falls. I liked the privacy of the Lower Falls.

Nice forest hike

The waterfalls were so awesome

The trail from Stone Mountain is far from moderate, I would rate it 7.8 on a scale of 1-10, 10 being strenuous. the view is gorgeous but it's disappointing to reach the overlook and have people drive up in their cars. The trail is also, more like 13 miles, not 10 and took around 7 hours to complete at a moderate pace, the loop was closed, it's in and back out. If you just like hiking in the woods to be hiking and need a really good workout, this is a great trail for you. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice views along the way but they're few and far between.

A wonderful hike alongside several soothing streams that lead to 3 waterfalls of various scale. The climb back up was a bit exhausting, but well worth it.
