Very nice trail. Dog friendly, bike friendly, good scenery and well maintained. Great Job Fayetteville.

Sort of boring except for the part that goes up the hill and through the woods. And the parking lot is easy to miss. but it's nearby for me and can be done in an hour plus.

for me, three stars means "good", which is just what this walk is for locals. i wouldn't drive along way to visit, though. the Chapel Hill Public Library is nearby so if you have a reason to go there, this is a nice add-on.

Good track to ride only during light traffic times. Sunday’s have heavy walking traffic.

I don't personally like this trail due to how heavily trafficked it is but I do believe it is a great place for dogs, children, or running. It is very easy regardless of the length you travel

I Love this trail. It's a nice walk to get some fresh air and see nature right here in the city

It’s a paved greenway near a river for running, biking, walking, or playing. The one mile section has a small park for the kids and a dog park but be careful crossing the road during our construction time going the other direction.

The trail is about 40 minutes from Asheville. There is another trail head near the same parking lot. Snowball is to your left when you arrive. When the trail comes to a fork about 100 yards in, take a right. A good amount of up and down throughout the hike. Right before the lookout point you have to do some rock scrambling. The view from the top was nice. It had rained the day before so a few spots were a little muddy but not bad.

Love to walk this path along with Morgan creek to get about 5 miles. There are two
parks off of it so the kids can play also. It is not heavily populated and you can see and hear the animals around you.

Love to walk this trail along with fan branch to get about 5 miles. It is beautiful and not heavily populated. It is great to do with kids as there are 2 parks of off fan branch trail so the kids can play.

This trail runs from downtown Durham through the Getto. The drug dealers, the drunk people peeing on the sides of the path to the gang of thugs We had to turn back. Please google this trail before starting it. I think that t was a good idea when it was planned but not anymore. Truly take a big dog or a gun do not hike this trail alone Or better yet not at all!

scenic driving

Excellent summer afternoon drive when it’s too hot/humid out to get on a trail. Only issue is when you get caught up near a group of motorcyclists it makes it difficult to get into any of the scenic overlooks.

Just a paved Greenway. Fine place for locals to get exercise, nothing for sight seeing. Don't drive to Franklin just to see this.

It’s just too cool to wander this place.

We did this Hike last June and loved it- beautiful area outside of Fayetteville NC

With most of the National Park closed due to icy conditions, this was one of the few accessible areas. Somehow, we messed this up and ended up just doing a loop of the bypass trail. By the time we realized the mistake we don’t have time to complete the whole loop. Will have to come back one day and do this correctly.

Just went yesterday (jan 4th). Pretty cold and windy so there was not many other people out. The hike is nice and the view from the peak is awesome. If you are going another great thing to check out is cascade falls which is only 0.3miles from the visitor center and is even handy-cap assessable. The falls are really pretty and are frozen right now.

Good, short trail. Had some really nice views of marsh and wading birds half way through the loop. Tons of fowler's toads and other little critters along the trail too. If you venture out in the late afternoon/evening, be prepared to be bitten.

Easy trail. Clean path. Could use better markers at road crossings. Good for any skill level.

Hill Training!

the first half was basically a road. it was very quiet for being so close to Raleigh. my kids (13, 10, 5, & 3) rocked it! the last mile was mostly uphill.

Great family trail

Easy walk along a scenic river. Enjoyed the small storyboard along the trail explaining Cherokee legends and customs relating to the river and explaining its importance to the Cherokee. Hike was great for us with two young children. Great for families. Was also really peaceful since we didn’t see many people along the trail. We went in December so not sure if would be more crowded during the summer months, but it was not crowded when we went, which was really nice.

Pleasantly surprised! The view from the top was much better than expected. We went in mid December and there wasn’t anyone else on the trail. I’m sure really pretty when all the leaves and foliage come back.

Quiet walk on paved road with nice views.

Energetic and peaceful

I have driven this beautiful section of the Parkway many times. I have also hiked some of the trails along the road several times. Great views.

trail running

Today was my first time running the Salem Lake Trail. It's great for running if you need a break from tripping on roots. I parked at the access off Linville and was pleased that they have clean, functioning restrooms there. Bikers, walkers and runners on the trail but it wasn't packed. Everyone seemed considerate of each other and I will definitely go back. Loved being able to run being surrounded by nature but also having a more groomed trail (crushed gravel) which allowed me to listen to music for once. Hardly any traffic noise. For a city park, great peace with distance.

Have walked sections of this area while living in WNC.

Amazing, easy running trail. Winston-Salem parks department keeps this trail in great shape. I’ve lost track of the number of times of I’ve run this trail.
