Wife and I enjoyed the hike. Saw a few people stop at the false summit. So be mindful of it as you will have to cross water. So wear boots, or water shoes!!

Dogs had fun hiking although there were a few not so friendly pups on the trail. Happy we decided to do this easy trail.

What a lovely place, a leisurely walk round trip about 2 miles, an easy trail with access to the river, bridges and at the end an incredible tall waterfall.

Easy, lush, short hike to the falls which is actually more stunning than I had anticipated. Lots of pretty water spots along the way. Beautiful blue butterflies right now. Saw lots of kiddos on this hike too. Very short drive off the I-40. Definitely worth it!

One of my favorite trails in Asheville. The upper falls is a blast but do not go if it had been raining because the last bit of the trail gets very slippery. Lower falls is fun and the upper falls is a great extra challenge!

Gorgeous views. Seems as though it gets more crowded each time we go. I recommend going early during the week :-)

Great trail and you can even climb to the top of the falls

Great hike. Strenuous at times. Go to Walker’s knob for a great view!

Walker knob has the better view if you decide to finish the trail there instead of Greybeard summit. Tough at times but we really enjoyed it. Lightly trafficked, dog friendly. Enjoyed crossing over the stream and the falls

Y’all let me you...
We started off on the Kitsuma bike/hiking trail which was great! But as we got to the bottom we realized that this trail did not truly loop around. You do have to walk up a road to continue on to the Swannanoa Creek trail. Which was fine. But the further you went down the trail the more over grown and washed out it became. Apparently that area was hit pretty hard with torrential rain about 3 months ago which completely washed out the trail. The trail is no longer kept up so it was basically a jungle of kudzu, fallen trees, and briars. The only “trail” we were able to follow was made by the deer. We became so frustrated that we climbed up the hill and walked along the railroad tracks and over I40 back to the car. I don’t recommend the Swannanoa Creek trail at this time until it can be cleared up as it was impossible to follow.

Nice hike with kids. Difficult enough to challenge the fam and keep our attention but easy enough to finish with some gas in the tank. Lots of people on the trail, that’s the loss of a star, the parking gets crunchy if you don’t hit it early enough. Good length for the 5 year old and plenty of up and down. Definitely take the spur that goes up to the waterfall. It’s not huge but it’s a nice spot. It’s just outside Black Mountain where we are staying at the Monte Vista Hotel, so it is perfect and three miles to the trailhead. Had a good time and will go back.

Easy in and out. My dog loves the stream crossings.

Fun trail! Starts out hard for first 1.5 Miles... then a very enjoyable walk to final uphill... great views... be careful going down the final 1.5 Miles, much more technical than the top..

My favorite so far. First part of trail follows creek bed so you are always accompanied by the beautiful sight and sound. Difficult hiking, steep, lots of loose rock. Middle section long gentle out and back with what seems like gentle elevation increase. Third section back to steep with loose rock and roots and throw in narrow as it appears not everyone gets all the way to the top. Some great views, waterfall (Graybeard Falls) and terrific woodlands. Saw only about six other people on the trail, all within the first hour or two. After that had the whole trail to myself.

Starts hard, gets easier as you ascend. Water is pretty regularly found so no worries for pets. Good afternoon hike, beautiful views and not very busy on a Saturday

So great! We went after a light rainfall, my children 1, 3, and 7 walked most of this trail with my 1 year old needing some assistance when it got rocky. The waterfall was great for my kids to splash around it, although the rocks near there were steep for kids. The smaller waterfall would be better for small children. We had a wonderful first North Carolina hiking experience here! Round about 3 hour hike give or take.

Amazing views, first half of the hike was rough for us. Cross the river three times in lower section. If there is heavy rain, expect to get wet.

We hiked this after a huge rainstorm. Flat creek was full of water which made Graybeard Falls extra beautiful. This hike was everything we were looking for. The first stretch is a fairly steep climb over rocks and roots with a few creek crossings. It was challenging but we were still able to do it fairly quickly. 10/10 will hike again!

Fun hike! Went after a rain storm so the trail was super muddy but not very crowded. Under the rainy/muddy conditions, the trail was more of a moderate hike. Lots of rocks at the end just before the gorgeous falls!

It is pretty! We went on a Saturday so crowded and it rained, so really muddy! More on the moderate side than easy. Had toddler with us that couldn’t be carried up the last steep rocky portion to the falls. Had view though!

Currently pretty wet, so some added difficulty there. Hiked solo to the summit and back with a couple of side adventures for a total of about 10 miles in just under 4 hours. The view from Walkers Knob overlook is incredible. Prepare to sweat!! I slipped a few times coming down the steeper sections, and the stream crossings are fairly well under water right now, so make sure you have good tread on your shoes! Advise doing this with trekking poles if you are headed to the summit!

Beautiful scenic hike. Waterfall at top is gorgeous. Many areas of the trail were very muddy.

Wonderful!!!! Lots of falls, lots of shade. Easy hike and lots of places to stop and enjoy the water. Go up the ropes— you won’t regret it! Just stick nearest to the water once you’re up past marker 3 so you don’t get lost!

Great trail. Easy for kids. Beautiful falls with lots of areas to get your feet wet or take a little dip. Very crowded. Will try to go during the week next time.

Great hike with beautiful views of the waterfalls.

beautiful waterfalls. great hike!

Great exercise like most have commented, had 0 visibility at the summit and other lookouts which were small a bit disappointing (even if there was visibility), but the trail was beautiful and serene. The last 1.5 miles to the summit is difficult and technical. As others have said as well, I caught a goat trail on a missed switchback so pay attention.

Great hike for the whole family! We have been twice and the hike to the top is awesome!

Wonderful hike with our 2 dogs! We loved the swimming holes throughout the hike to let our dogs (and us) get our feet cooled off. Beautiful waterfall!! We hiked to the base of the falls and didn't climb the rocks to the upper falls.
