Great hike, took our four year and and our dog. They loved it. Waterfall is beautiful

A little crowded even on a Monday, but the waterfalls are worth it.

just hiked this again for the second time this week with my girlfriend. amazing waterfalls but it's a bit crowded on the weekends

Amazing waterfall!! Best one I’ve seen on the east coast, hands down. Well worth the hike to the top!!

easy trail .. beautiful waterfall..

this was my favorite trail we did on our Asheville weekend. waterfall is better than expected and most of it is an easy walk out.

very easy flat wide trail along the river to an amazing waterfall-pictures don't do it any justice. trail to upper falls is closed but always see people going up.

First quarter up, along the creek is quite the workout! Once you get to the switchbacks, it’s a breeze. Nice views along the switchbacks with a little stop, about halfway, at a small waterfall. Last quarter is also a pretty decent climb. Worth the view when you get to the top.

Loved it. Many interesting things to see and lots of creeks to cross on the way up.

Very beautiful, very heavily trafficked on the weekend. Enjoyed our trip :)

Easy hike with worth wile views!

Great hike if you are looking for exercise but the views were a little disappointing. There were muddy spots but these were easily traversed or circumnavigated. The waterfall is 200 feet from the main trail and Walters Knob is maybe 0.2-0.3 miles from the main trail - both worth it. I won’t probably do this one again but is worth it if you’re in the area.

Easy hike, with lots of rewards to spectacular falls!

Great Easy trail for beginners with a great waterfall at the end.

Really enjoyed this hike. Definitely one you start before 3 in the afternoon. Beautiful views from walkers knob!!

Interesting hike. Segment along Swannanoa Creek is reputed to be the old stagecoach road to Asheville. Note interesting stone work at former bridge crossing and culverts. At least 2 Civil War era gravesites (see photos). Old roadbed remains but can be tricky to follow. Crosses railroad near upper end of creek. See my photo for actual track on the old roadbed which follows closely along creek all the way up to Swannanoa Gap. The Alltrails track is not accurate with regard to the route of the old stagecoach road!

So far it has been my favorite hike. It was a beautiful day and early spring so the trees have not bloomed and you get a view most of the way up. I would say it’s on the harder side of moderate. I definitely plan to do this on again.

Great short trail. Nice 90 ft waterfall at the end. I hiked it with two pregnant women

Very kid/ family friendly to the bottom of the falls. Hike up to the top is pretty difficult, but definitely worth it.

Easy trail up to the cascades. Last 1/2 mile to the upper falls is killer but well worth the effort!

The family (40, 39, 11, and 8) and I hit this today. Great weather (70)! Did the falls, knob and summit. Wonderful views. A little overgrown, but good challenges and pleasant switchbacks.

really fun hike, definitely worth the climb. just be careful not to miss the switch back, or else you'll end up on a goat path that leads no where.

Kitsuma trail out was great. However the return trail is not where it is shown on the map. Looks like whoever recorded it turned off the recording while they followed the railroad tracks and turned it back on when they reached the old stagecoach trail. Hence the perfectly straight line on the map that crosses the stream several times. I followed the tracks for a while and ended up going back up the embankment to the paved trail to get back.

Loads of fun with three young kids. Wading, running, skipping rocks, hiking, lots of inspiration for imaginative play... oh and hiking! Stream was chilly but the kids left soaked and muddy. Would love to come back and picnic when it’s hot.

Beautiful river views along the trail, with many short diversion trails leading to really nice spots along the way. As others have stated, the trail is wide and can be very crowded on a pretty day. But the trail surface is natural, somewhat muddy in places, and an overall nice hike. The falls are beautiful and a look a bit different from every angle. There's also a steep trail up the right side of the falls (muddy, rocky, and slippery with ropes added for stability) that will take the more adventurous to the top, or almost there. Plenty of places for a cautious person to step out on the falls for great views and photos. Obviously popular destination and not a private afternoon by any means but well worthwhile.

Nice view of River all along the one mile from parking to falls. Lots of people on trail this beautiful Sunday afternoon!

Used to be a 5-star hike before trail 'improvements' (clearing, widening/grading, bridges) made it more accessible and less of a 'wilderness: experience. Now the crowds (some of whom clearly aren't outfitted with proper footwear or fitness levels) have made this more of a Disney experience. Kind of sad. Plus, always lots of dogs and now more & more poop along the trails
The creek leading to the falls, and the falls themselves, are truly beautiful -+ especially after heavy rains. Alas, like many things in western NC, now that all the tourists have 'discovered' the place, it's no longer as quiet or special. If you come early during weekdays you may only have to share the trail with just a handful of others. Otherwise, the parking area is jammed and the trail is noisy and crowded. Not sure why this isn't considered an Easy hike at this point. But do take care around slippery rocks/boulders. And one portion of trail, about 1/3 of the way in, has experienced a major landslide and is a bit dangerous (until/unless they stabilize the slope and install a fence/railing).
Anyway: 5 stars for the creek and falls; one star for crowds. Three stars overall.

Beautiful! Stunning waterfall :)
