My wife and I are experienced hikers and do several hikes a year. That said I would rate this as a moderate to almost difficult trail. It is very poorly marked. We walked to the upper falls route going in and didn't see a blaze until we were almost down to the river. On the way out blazes were sporadic at best and many that were there were very faded. That said it was a great waterfall hike with a lot of off shoot trails that take you to several swimming holes. This is a good hike for everyone including families that are looking for some cool water swimming. We'll certainly return with our swimwear.

Super easy and short.
Great views.
If you think this is a difficult hike you should get into shape before commenting.

Breathtaking 360 views atop the mountain. Definitely a hidden gem.

Water was high when we were there. Great hike . Really enjoyed the views and falls .

Great view at the end! Like it has been mentioned, tough at the beginning and the end.

I loved this trail. It started thundering and we had three pups with us. The rain poured. I was still willing to finish to the end. We turned around at 1.2 miles approximately. There was a fork in the path. Did NOT know which way to go. Still do not know. I want to try again tomorrow so if anyone knows, it would be great information.

Amazing view of the valley on your left before reaching the summit on your right. When you make it to this point you’ll know what I’m talking about. Great views, good photo ops, dog friendly, and slightly difficult with a nice scramble to the top.

Trail is well marked. Six mile gravel road to the trailhead is scenic. The falls are beautiful and it is a great hang out spot for me and my dogs EXCEPT - SNAKES! Lots of these under the rock ledges today. Great swim spot though - GO EARLY for solitude.

So much fun!

very easy trail.

Loved it! a beautiful trail and water. fairly rugged for us who are not regular hikers, but great fun.

Very nice and easy walk, we met a group of 10 year old kids in a school trip.
Don't be lazy and walk to all 3 spots, the one at the end (the highest) has some amazing views of the entire area.

Such a beautiful falls area with many different views. It was quite exciting to trek down to the basin and wade around it! Rock jumping and exploration is fantastic here! Hike is fairly simple to all views and locations! Can’t wait to take my pups back!

Amazing view. Worth the hike. Limited parking. Very few hikers on trail

Love this place!

Not as easy as it sounds . I’m 66 years and it was no picnic ! Made it to the top , bring lots of water and a snack as you will need it if you are older.

Was a little too much water to do falls with kids today but would try again

Very beautiful. One of my favorite places to see. Easy to walk through and great pictures taken ! Camped out right next to the streaming water - must go !

This is a sweet trail. Fairly easy. Great views of Grandfather Mountain linn cove viaduct

Easy trial (even though it was muddy and slick), beautiful falls

nice quick hike! The view is amazing, great view of table rock! bring some water and it’s really fun to explore all around at the top

This is one of my favorite trails, starts out like is going to be super easy, then is really rocky and a lot of fun, beautiful all the way. You won't regret taking this trail!

My wife and I decided to hike today regardless of the rain, and Hawksbill seemed to be the place. It was muddy but one of the best short hikes ever. The trail is easy until you have to chose left or right. The "left" is rocky, and fairly steep, but so worth it. She and I are going back when it's clear...can't wait!!!

short, nice swim spot, get your cardio coming back out

love this loop! nice elevation change, multiple water crossings, 2 documented on trail waterfalls and a few more if you like to bushwack. get your hike on

short easy well worth it-must do every season. first 1/4 mile or so is uphill and rocky but not as steep as harpers falls. then coast 1.5 to beautiful views

great trail with steep section at sitting bear. Much easier drive if you start from sitting bear or hawksbill and go out to gingercake. bonus if you add hawksbill-and lunch there-on the way back

stop at the visitor ctr and get the map, there is about 5 miles of easy trails here including a second little waterfall. spend a couple hours wandering and having lunch at the base, perfect way to start the day

Another short and sweet hike to a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. Popular spot, always busy. nice little loop

beautiful short hike with the most amazing views of the gorge, table rock, etc. can be combined with Jonas ridge/sitting bear if you want to make a day of it. If camping on hawksbill be prepared for A LOT of wind!!
