Always beautiful...one bridge out on the orange loop. Can navigate around with a little effort if it stays dry; may sink in the mud in wet conditions. Otherwise fantastic.

Went to run this trail and it was closed down due to the hurricane

Tons of fun with the family

Wonderful hike, can make it short or long with different trails. Took my two young children and we loved it. Well taken care of trails .

Hiked with my 4 year old today. Trail was nice and dry, beautiful day to walk. The dark blue section (that branches off the main trail closest to the water) has a bridge out and I didn’t see a way around. Otherwise nice, several forks where you can take different trails that all end up looping back together. Nothing really long but you could get a few miles in depending on how many of the trails you take. Very quiet peaceful area that I feel safe in.

Nice relaxing loop. A little wet and muddy from recent rains but easy to navigate around . Bridge still out on the back end of what i think was the orange trail section.

Park and trail closed due to Hurricane Florence. Looks like it could be nice again when it gets cleared.

It’s currently closed due to impacts from Hurricane Florence.

nice clean easy restful walk.

This trail only get a one star due to the fact that you cannot get to it not because the trail isn’t good but because the access is denied off the main road.

Great trail for dogs and small kids

Very easy trail but was pretty muddy and hurricane Florence effects are still apparent with certain paths impassable. But we enjoyed it. A very nice boardwalk. Also nice to have benches and toilets there.

Super easy with nice woodland scenery

I did a portion of the trail on my bike at the end of March. I started at the large parking lot for horse trailers (I’m guessing). No one was on this portion of the trail which was nice. I made it to the beach and walked my bike to enjoy the driftwood and water view. Their were more people walking along the trail following the water. Great for beginners!

We took our grandchildren on this hike....We had a picnic also.. the kids loved it and so did we!!

Very easy, mostly flat stroll through the woods next to the mouth of the Neuse River. The trail itself is nothing particularly special unless you are lucky enough to spot some wildlife, but you are likely to see more trash than animals. The beach and picnic areas nearby are really pretty, peaceful, and accessible, but the trail is not particularly well-maintained (for the record, the deeper you get into the Croatan Forest, the nastier it gets--I've never seen so much litter in my life). Certainly recommended for light outdoor exercise, but not for nature-viewing.

Nice easy trail near where I live so it was a nice find on the app. Flat terrain except for a few tree roots exposed on a few of the trail routes. A few of the trails had a few puddles from the rain the day before but nice none the less. Highly recommend for a nice quiet hike with a group or just alone as I did it.

Great walking trails! And the benches every so often make it that much more enjoyable for beginners

Great trail, super easy to follow! Has Nice views of the river. Nice afternoon hike!

I have hiking these trails for years and they are slowly gaining in popularity. It is a great long hike if you do all of it - 7 miles. There are several ways to do portions. It can be confusing but there are completely paved areas as well as typical trails. Lots of hills so it’s a good workout. I am sorry that the hiker above thought they had to cross the river to find the trail. You don’t. My best suggestion is to download the map or take a pic of the one at the trail.

Easy, quiet, nature walk with pretty views of natural habitat and creek.

I chose this route as an alternative to one of the Pirhana trails since it is on the military base (**warning - unless you have a valid military ID, you can’t get anywhere near the trails on the base’s land; this isn’t clear in the listing). Though the trail is nice and pleasant, a few drawbacks... - Finding the trail and navigating the crossroads can be challenging, there are some faded printouts stapled to the tree. - Because its right next to an airbase, there were frequent jets passing by. Although it wasn’t terrible, it did break up the silence. - I’m not sure when the last rain was, however there were a few sections of the trail that were completely flooded.

beautiful trail along the Neuse river. Good for walking a dog, as long as your dog can hop over some downed trees

great for trail running. need markers however for the newer trails. its easy to get lost

This is a very easy loop trail for hikers, naturists, bird watchers, dogs and kids of all ages. There are several different routes to take around this park with the longest being approximately 2 miles, that is if you follow around the outer perimeter of this park. There is little to no elevation change while venturing through the trails making it extremely easy to navigate. This trail is easily accessible and family friendly, which I would recommend for all adventurists and beginners!

I hiked this trail with my family a week or so before I downloaded this app and realized that this trail deserved a little more credit being that it’s actually almost 6 miles long. All of the recordings up to this point didn’t cover any of the ENE section of the trail which in my opinion is the prettiest section of the entire loop that contains several marshy, low lying areas great for wildlife viewing! The only downside to hiking this trail is the fact that they close the gate to the parking area at 6pm so you’ll have to park somewhere along the road leading into the park if you plan to be there after hours. There is plenty of wildlife in the area, my wife and daughter were actually lucky enough to see some Whitetail Deer at just around dusk, but they yelled and scared them off before my son and I could see them. Pet and kid friendly trail and mountain bikes welcome. A good pair of hiking shoes/boots recommended.

Fun easy trail to hike. Great location between Havelock and New Bern.
