One of my favorite places in North Carolina!

50, out of shape and overweight... I did it! :-) Easy trail with great paths and pretty falls view. Watch for poison ivy!

I read all of the earlier reviews about the terrible road and guess what when we arrived today the road had been graded. you can drive a car on it now with no difficulty. Oh yeah the views were amazing

Beautiful waterfall. We started from the left, the descent is longer but less steep.

stop here in 9-22-2917 to is this great vertical drop cascading waterfall but be care. they started to track the falls in 1982 and over 30 deaths have been recorded. Crabtree Falls is located at Milepost 339.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway about 45 miles north of Asheville Picnic Area About 3/4 of a mile south of the waterfall parking area is the Crabtree Falls picnic area with many tables and grills, along with nice mountain views. From the campground / waterfall parking area, turn right / south on the Parkway to reach a separate parking area.

i spent 2 months in September & October of 2017 tour six southern states checking out all kinds of trails & historical site. started my day here. tom's creek falls has to be the easiest trail i have ever done. its a straight line to the falls. less than a mile with almost no elevation gain. you can walk it blind folded. but still nice to see this 80ft multi-cascade falls with a small plunge pool. if you walk the trail in the spring A variety of wildflowers grow among the hardwood forest. i meet a really nice couple here and they told me there is also an old mica mine just downstream from falls but i didn't have time to check it out. all in all a great little spot to add to any day trip.

Tough trail but worth it!

Probably one of the most gorgeous trails I’ve ever been on. The waterfall is well worth every second of the rocky descent down a slowly winding trap that’s moderately more difficult than your average trail. Full recommendation!

This trail is by no means meant for a beginner. It is extremely steep with many roots and steps to climb. I thoroughly enjoyed this trail and it is now in my top 10. I would 100% revisit. The waterfall is well worth the trip. You can get right up under it and experience the water falling on you. There are a quite few of mosquitos on the back half following the river. Some of the turns are not marked, however, using common sense you can see which areas you are suppose to turn on. Wear your good hiking shoes.

Grated trail covered in ground rock. Stroller and possibly wheelchair accessible to observation deck at bottom of falls. A couple of swimming holes. If you desire a longer hike, go past the falls up to the right and follow until you get to forest road and take right (~2 miles).

beautiful falls. I went clockwise (longer way to falls) but gradual downhill; saving the loose rock return for uphill.

Trail is a steep V-shape out and back. Nothing but roots and rocks all the way down & up, not enjoyable. Don’t be fooled by the short length. Wouldn’t recommend, there are better views & more enjoyable trails to be seen & had elsewhere in the area.

Been hiking off the Blue Ridge for just over a year and this is my Favorite trail to date. The waterfall is Incredible and the trail is interesting and a fun challenge. Highly recommend this trail!

Great hike! Only pasted 4 other hikers... It’s mainly rocks and tree roots. There are some steep inclines but not hard.

Loved this trail! it is actually a little over 3 miles (not 2.6) if you are walking from the main parking lot. if you start near the entrance to the lower camp ground it's less. As some suggested we hiked it backwards (which is clockwise) and it was a good choice. the shorter first leg would have been a much steeper hike and more up stairs. Doing the long leg first definitely had a steep, uphill beginning but then it was a more gradual uphill walk. We were caught in a short but crazy downpour but it was still really fun. I recommend closed toe, waterproof hiking shoes because it is rocky/lots of roots and, in sections you walk through a stream. We were there on a Thursday and only saw a handful of people. For a good part it was only us, very still and quiet. You can swim in the falls if you like!

trail is grown up. where is the forest service I pay taxes for? oh yeah. the cheese in chief cut the funding so the rish could have tax cuts.

easy, pretty waterfall with nice little pockets to picnic at.

This was a perfect day trip! Lots of downhill...lots of uphill...lots of gorgeous trees and rock formations. The stairs they’ve created leading down to the fall are a really nice touch, and the emergence at the base of the fall is breathtaking! This is now one of my favorite waterfalls...so far. Plenty of space to take a dip or eat a snack. Keep your eyes open for the little off-trail spots with fantastic views and private tiny baby miniature fall areas.

Nice trail. Good cardio with gentle climbs that keep your heart rate up. Great view of the Catawba river at the end. Best marked trail to date. No problem keeping track.

Beautiful view at the main viewing spot. Was very peaceful there in the morning. Followed the trail out, and part of it was overgrown. Used my all trail app to be sure I stayed on path.

Beautiful views of the Waterfalls most of the hike. Quite a bit of stairs and moderately steep switchbacks. The butterflies through the entire hike adds to the wonderful experience.

beautiful waterfall easy hike in and you can walk on up to top and beautiful little area up there also.

Great 3 mile hike - be prepared for some steep spots! We went at 9 am on a Sunday and there were only a handful of people at the falls. Our dog also had a great time.

A real hike over braches, rocks and water to get to these beautiful falls was so worth it. The return trip is shorter but steeper if you go the way you came. prepare for many people on the weekend, which is how it should be!

Easy walk to a beautiful waterfall. We saw dozens of butterflies also. there's an opportunity to play in the falls and in the stream along the way. Parking at trailhead is tight.

fun short trail too a beautiful waterfall. great for kids.
