Beautiful small waterfall that you can get to easily and go right to the base of the falls. Amazing.

Nice waterfall. Have to park way up and walk down a road since it is on private property. Downhill going and uphill coming back. Was flowing good when I went and half frozen.

My family and I enjoyed this trail on Christmas Eve! Going down was very easy, but the way up was a little harder but not too bad. My whole family was able to do this by taking some breaks here and there. Our dog, Nyla, joined us and loved it! Once you get to the waterfall you have to go down off the main trail but it’s worth it to be right next to the falls! I was even able to go behind it, although i got a little wet but really fun! Thoroughly enjoyed this trail and a big thank you to the owners, you made our family’s Christmas Eve a great one!

My 8 year old and I hike the Colbert Ridge Trail to Mount Mitchell State Park. He called it the ankle breaker. My watch logged it at 11 miles and not the 7 I was expecting. Lots of strenuous climbing and going down and up rocks. There are 2 points where there are ropes to assist the climb. It turns out that our dog is part goat and had no problem scrambling up and over. We found a dead rattlesnake on the Colbert Ridge Trail and there were notices of bear sightings once we reached the Black Mountain Crest. There was a lot of cloud cover, so we couldn't see as far as we liked until we reached Old Tom. If you want a challenge, this hike is for you.

Nice hike to the waterfall at the half way point. bit of a scramble down to the waterfall from the main trail. The second section of the hike after the waterfall gets more rocky and uneven and ends abruptly away an electric fence south abandoned cars. Advice would be only go as far as the waterfall.

Nice easy hike down, a little bit of a hill coming back up. Parking is limited.

Easy hike. But, I didn't see an easy path to approach the falls to walk behind it, and I would like to know more about that. We didn't get to the full end of the trail as it was roped off. Thank you to the family that owns it for allowing hikes!

Neat place but don't go unless there has been recent rain.

50, overweight and out of shape... was an easy hike downhill to the falls but coming back was a medium difficulty. definitely pretty and worth the hike!

Easy walk downhill on a gravel road most of the way until you get to a trail. But then uphill on the way out. Beautiful waterfall that you can walk behind. Passed a few people, but definitely not crowded.

Nice easy hike. Not my favorite but worth the time

For a really short walk on a gravel private drive, with walking access allowed, the waterfall payoff is just lovely! You can walk behind the cool fall...makes a great pic. Lots of beautiful fern ground cover and other local flora and fauna. Great way to spend an hour or two.

Not my favorite hike but an excellent waterfall. The waterfall is a mile into the hike and worth the walk. The remainder of the hike almost looks like it's going through a road; not very well marked. That last half mile of isn't anything to write home about.

This trail is lovely, and kudos to the property owners for allowing access. The big falls on the right are the only major “falls,” but if you walk farther down to the end of the trail near the road, you might spot some gigantic cows relaxing in the shade. There is some mud, and water trickling about on the path, so wear boots accordingly. The falls are tranquil and inviting.

The trail is a rock paved road for 2/3 of the trip. It then gets more woodsy with creeks alongside. The falls are gorgeous and I liked the feeling of being private. We saw one other couple and a friendly blood hound.

The hike to the falls was all relatively down hill. When we came to the trail to the waterfall it was extremely wet and a bit muddy. There was several down trees and at one point you have to cross the creek. Seeing I was wearing duck boots I walked through the creek and my boyfriend crossed the creek by using a fallen tree as a bridge. There was areas that were slippery and muddy. There has been a lot of rain in the area lately. The falls was beautiful. We decided to not walk down to the base of the falls knowing that the hike back would be all up hill. This is probably a hike I would not do again.

Easy Hike/walk down about a mile, gravel road then wide path to the falls. Some people might have to go slow coming back because it is a easy but gradual upward grade. Beautiful waterfall. I was there in winter, February 13th, 2019.

It’s really a hidden treasure.

Enough of a challenge to feel like you did something and hiking behind the waterfall was ✌️. Hard to find the “trail” (more like a golf cart path) and saw about a dozen people - those are the only drawbacks.

beautiful waterfall, hike is super easy and straight downhill ths whole way. which means it's straight back up on the way out. Easy hike and well worth the trip.
