Very picturesque hike along the river. Great hike for novices because the trail is pretty flat. Would definitely recommend!

Pretty trail, very easy to walk. You park off the side of the highway and immediately come to a fork one along the road and one by the river, they quickly merge into one. It looks like private property but eventually turns into Public. Beautiful small waterfalls that fall down into the trial. Good for dogs. Depends what you are looking for, would Recommend for an easy low key trail with dogs or kids.

Easy hike but long distance for me as a beginner but fun day with Becky

Beautiful trail for a leisurely stroll! I’ve been on this trail numerous times and I am always in awe of the scenery.!

A walk in the park. Only a very beautiful park. A sunny day mid 60’s. Had the entire trail in and out to myself.

Really pretty trail that follows the river. Flat the whole way, so a very easy one. Saw fresh bear tracks along the river in a couple of spots.

Echo the sentiment - a must-hike! Flat and not at all strenuous but enough rocks, roots, and fallen trees in the path to keep the walking interesting. The rare combination of easy hike, quiet/isolated, and gorgeous scenery. No restrooms at the trailhead, but the Laurel River Store will graciously let you use their clean and well-tended portajohn. Be sure to round out the day with a soak in the hot springs at the spa just five miles beyond the trailhead!

Easy trail but has some rooted and rocky areas that require your attention. The river is beautiful. The ruins of Reunion aren’t spectacular.

An easy way to get 7 miles in. Enjoyable stroll along the river, some rocks and roots along the trail but easily tunable. 4 of us went and all agreed it was great :)

This is a great little trail. The river is beautiful and I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of people there on a Saturday morning in June. Basically flat the whole way. Can’t wait to go back and find the perfect picnic spot!

Rocky trail but awesome scenery!

Easy 7 mike out-and-back. Don’t let the profile fool you; it’s virtually flat the entire way. Lovely views of river including several nice swimming holes and a few class3-4 rapids.

Beautiful Trail. Moderately trafficked. Stays by the river the whole time. A must do trail.

An absolute must do if you are in the area. Easy and beautiful. If you have time go all the way to the french broad and don't forget to look at the remains of the logging town Runion. This is hike is great for all levels.

Wonderful hike along the Laurel River. This is one of my top three. We will take out of town friends on this hike.

Nice hike but be careful, there are a couple of areas that are a little rocky and unsteady. It's actually a 4 mile hike in, and 4 mile hike back out to the gravel parking lot. Picnic tables are at the beginning, not at the end of the hike which ends at a railroad tracks.

I used to love this trail in the heat of the summer but now days there are too many tourists and transplants smelling the place up.

Poison ivy lines this trail on both sides for the entire 3.5 miles.

Continues to be one of my favorite easy hikes. Along the river nearly the entire trail, the sights and sounds are beautiful. Plenty of places to stop and play in the water. Pups love it.

Nice level hiking trail. Easy hike for a dog to walk. Great areas for a picnic and hanging by the water.

Great place for an older dog who still likes easy hikes and a little river play time. Flat terrain, well manicured trail, lots of little falls, and plenty of spots to take a dip on a hot day.

Wonderful trail! The views along the trail are gorgeous and the walk is mainly flat. It may be a 7 mile long trail but it doesn't feel like it because of the beauty there and the fact that it is a flat path. I loved this walk!

This trail is beautiful. Its not marked but with Google maps it is easy to find. It is flat but definitely rocky in places. Many places along the trail make for great photo ops. I am looking forward to going back soon to run that trail. It was great!

Beautiful scenery, flat trail. Ate our lunch at the clearing at the intersection of the Laurel and French Broad with 2 folding chairs mentioned in another review. Coffee shop near the parking area is great.

Large trailhead parking area just beside Hwy 25/70 where 208 intersects. Reach a fork in the trail soon after leaving trailhead, either route is fine...they will join back up shortly. Pass 2 or 3 cabins and a couple of railway cars on the left. Beautiful scenic river with very unique rock formations for the rest of the hike. Come to the remaining fragments of Runion and continue on to an intersection with a rail line. Cross the tracks and scramble down the other side passing the confluence of Big Laurel Creek with the wide and the French Broad River. Someone's even left a couple of folding chairs to sit and gaze at the river before heading back. Trail was a great way to spend the afternoon. It took us about 3 hours walking time.
