Easy hike but very pretty and peaceful. Amazing greenery and the lake was nice.

Beautiful trail

Hiked this trail on New Year’s Day. The temp was in the low thirties, and we hardly saw any one else out there. Not challenging with regards to hills, but ground leaf cover did hide many loose baseball sized rocks that made me keep eyes down for stretches. Lake was beautiful, the woods were quiet and peaceful. We will go back in the spring to see how the park changes. GPS measured the hike at 5.5 miles.

This is the perfect thanksgiving day walk location it's easy and along the lake. If you're looking for a local place to get outside this is nice but it is not a great hiking place. Very popular. Not challenging. gravel paths

There are several trials here. I chose Hill trial and it is good for jogging. Worth trying

Easy trail for all levels. Be sure to take the second loop that runs along the lake.

Very scenic trail, lots of opportunities to stop for a minute and take the beautiful lake Catawba.

I was looking for a trail for a short run while staying in Huntersville. This hit the spot. Looks like it is predominantly for mountain bikers but I didn't come across any at 7:00 p.m. It was within 24 hours of a rain though and bikers shouldn't be there right after a rain. The trail has plenty of ups and downs but is completely runnable. The sign at the trailhead says it is 3.5 miles long but my Garmin registered less than 3. Could have made a wrong turn though.

My first hike in the Charlotte area and it was great! My girlfriend and I took our 5 month old puppy on the 3 mile hike. There was very minimal elevation changes, but nice green trees all around, small running creek, and multiple small wooden bridges.

I would say we're slightly above average hikers, but this "easy" course was a great starter near us.

Watch out for the mountain bikers as there is a lot of blind corners. Also of note. There's a lot of soccer fields, basketball courts, softball fields, and tennis courts so feel free and bring extra equipment to have a fun filled day.

P.S. The park is FREE to enter

Nice scenic short trail that outlines the peninsula in Latta Plantation Park. The trail is woody, with great views of Lake Catawba. Do this trail with your children and bring your fishing pole if you have a little time. Nice place for a short day hike.

There are many different trails to do here, we did the advertised track. The hill trail portion of this is meh, but the cove and split rock portions were great. lots of rocks, but very fun and nice along the lake. Watch out for horse poop.

Really nice trail for beginners like me, but challenging enough to give you a good work out.

One of the better options close to Charlotte. Solid hike, but nothing too memorable. Perfect outing if you live in charlotte and don't want to drive too far.

I'm new to the area so my bike has not been tuned up yet so I hiked this trail. Had a great time. Lots of switchbacks, surface changes, and some elevation that made it really fun. I can't wait to ride it. It was "cold" ish but there was still a decent amount of people hiking and riding with me out there, and every single one of them all said hello and we're super friendly.

Outstanding way to spend the afternoon!
I have not been here in years, and forgot how awesome this is so close to the city!!!
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED FOR SURE

We took Hill Trail, Cove Trail, Split Rock Trail, Piedmont Prairie Trail, & Hill Trail for a total of 7miles almost to the step! (ignore the fact that I stopped recording my hike for a few hundred steps...)

It was really a great day, hiking boots are smart out on the "Cove Trail" as the current leaf cover makes the rocks (and there are plenty of rocks) very hard to see.

The trail BLAZE are worn out in some places, but there is not mystery where the trail is really.

This park is beautiful. I took my dog here it was a beautiful day in December. This trail itself is really small I think it's .36miles total but I'm not 100% sure. There are other various trails I believe throughout latta the same size or larger. This trail is kind of a joke- it isn't even really marked. There's also a creepy memoir where a person died? I'm not sure - just assuming due to the nature of the objects by the trees and the photo/prayer posted. I love latta but this trail sucks.

The thing I miss most about Charlotte is my Sunday long run at Latta. So beautiful, and easy to loose track of time. I miss training here as a Charlotte 49er cross country running. The gravel trails make a satisfying crunchy sound, which helped me find a good rythym, and made the trails runnable in the snow. You could easily choose a route with various difficulty. Came out and canoed once too. Love it here.

This is part of the extensive Latta Plantation Nature Preserve trail system. Parking next to the nature center at the entrance, I hiked the Hill, Cove and Split Rock Trails for just over five miles. The Hill Trail is wide and is often shared with horses from the equestrian center. The Cove Trail loops through the woods, getting you close to the lake in several places. The trail is filled with small rocks. I had to be careful with all the leaves on the ground. The split Rock Trail also gets you close to the water, and is not nearly as rocky. I really enjoyed the combination of trails on a beautiful fall day.

I then returned by including the Cove and Split Rock Trails. The Hill Trail is wide and is often shared with horses from the equestrian center. A short and easy loop, with wonderful views as it follows along the edge of the lake for much of the distance. It is very family and dog-friendly, and is easy to combine with many other trails at the Latta Plantation Nature Preserve.
