Good hike!

Very nice. A little challenge to it but not too much. It was very slick though from all the rain. I believe the river had been high and left slick mud. I didn’t get to finish the trail bc I slipped in the mud but me and my dogs enjoyed it! Would have been nice to be able to get to the water easier though without the slippery mud! Lol overall a very nice trail

this trail is very very rocky. kinda big rocks too. your ankles will twist, your foot slip.you will encounter steep hills, hard to keep balance. so I don't know how you get easy as a description.

so the trail maps in the ranger office are old. ask for the map for bikers and you will get a more accurate map. because we had that inaccurate we got off the bear trail and kept walking walking walking. we turned around and went back, went to the ranger office and got the up to date biking map.

An excellent trail, actually intermediate and with mixed views! We only saw 2 other people the whole time. Trail full of surprises. Theres a pretty steep incline if you are injured or have weak knees stay away.
Cons: Tons of horse flies and spiders.

This was a good hike. I added the Dam Site Trail via the middle of the Discovery Trail to lengthen the hike. Be aware, it's doubtful you'll have cell coverage so plan accordingly.

This was a nice hike with plenty of stream views.

good 3 mile walk, discovery and stream are easy. add in the damsite loop to make it more moderate. very quiet only saw 1 other person on the trail late on a saturday. will have to try the summit loop next time. very nice area.

Short trail goes past an old dam site that still has remains left. Also goes past a small family burial plot

Trail walking next to a stream for most of the way. No great view at the top.

Nice views over a bridge. Short trail leading to the longer dam site loop and summit loop trails

One of the most interesting trails in Medoc Mtn State Park, the Dam Site loop trail features two dam sites, including a rock dam from an old mill site. Adds flavor to a combination of several of the trails. This one is not to miss if you visit the park.

Even though we hiked this in winter expecting some views through the woods, we really didn't see any. Elevation change to the summit is not too bad; we combined this with other trails to create a pretty good workout. Not a bad set of trails for this part of the state.

Pretty nice hike for the area, Medoc mountain has some nice features including the bridge over Little Fishing Creek and the Old Dam Site. Interesting to see rhododendron and mountain laurel along the creek. Also the interpretive signs about the local wildlife were nice along the Discovery Trail. We combined Stream Loop, Summit Loop, Old Dam Site Loop and Discovery Loop which makes a nice day hike if you like walks in the woods.

Took my dog here. Trail is well marked. We had a good time. Bridges and steps are in fair shape. Took us an hour and 10 minutes to hike it.

Great place to stop and walk. I have spent a weekend camping and hiking and other times I will stop on my way home from Raleigh, just to stretch my legs and enjoy the out of doors before finishing my drive home.

Another great trail in Medoc Mountain State Park. I've hiked it numerous times and it's always enjoyable. There is some evidence of an old scout camp and a concrete dam along the trail.

I have hiked this trail probably 30-40 times. It's a great length for a short, day-hike and also is a good hike for getting your legs conditioned for a long hike with a pack --if you live nearby and can go out frequently. The hills are not a factor as you may think the name implies. This is not a mountain. It's usually a quite hike with few, if any, others on the trail.
