Mostly uphill. Trails are not clearly marked so it's easy to get confused. Trail had lots of tree stumps and rocks. Great bathing area for dogs and kids once you get to the Schoolhouse Waterfall.
Not a huge summit but a great place to hike to just for the view.

Okay trial. Panthertown Valley Trail is really a (closed) service road and frequented by mountain bikers. For hikers, it may be best to use Panthertown as a connector as you criss-cross between other trails with more to see and fewer bikes zooming by.

Great Hike. As with all the trails in panthertown valley, take a GPS or a trail map. Portions of the trail (Panthertown Valley Trail) are well-marked, but other parts (Wilderness Falls) is not marked at all. Lots of overgrowth made staying on the trail difficult. Bring water shoes or prepare to cross streams without boots in the rainy Spring and Summer seasons here as water levels are high.

Short but moderate hike to some beautiful views. Highly recommend! Bring a bathing suit in the summer.
This is NOT near Salem, SC. It is near Lake Glenville, NC.

Very steep to falls and steep coming out. Gorgeous views! Traveled with two dogs, 7, 10 & 14 yr old hockey players. We were all exhausted!

Ended up doing this trail by accident... but so happy we did! We went around to Little Green summit first and then down to the falls. The trail was definitely easy going for the first 3+ miles. A nice/steep climb to the top and then some AMAZING views. Got a little turned around on the summit thanks to some careless wandering but never got too far off path. The entire 4 hours we were in the area we only saw 4 other groups of people which made the experience even more perfect. Can't wait to come back for a weekend of camping/hiking.

Great waterfalls

has everything: falls, steep hike, cliff walking, wet swampy areas, and lots of leaves. got lost a couple times. this app really helped.

Great trail. If it weren't for the muddy trail and sparse trail markers, we would definitely have rated it a 5.

Beautiful hike!! Loved walking through the Granny Burrell bit but GOSH!!! The Schoolhouse waterfall was such a joy!! Absolutely wonderful and the water is sure to wake you up!! Seeing the view from Salt Gap during the early morning and then again after your hike

Good hike to schoolhouse falls, there are two muddy portions, expect your hiking shoes to get dirty. I'd recommend going the extra half mile from schoolhouse falls to the top of green mountain for a great view. To the top of green mountain and back to the trailhead is 4 miles. My 11 year old daughter did the hike no problem. The falls makes a good swimming spot. Enjoy!

Can you hunt small game?

Great hike, and worth the view from the top.

One of my favorites :) Hiking up to Little Green Mountain isn't always easy but SO worth it!

Nice trail, super views

I wouldn't have really considered this to be that difficult of a hike depending on which way you go. But if you hike to just the falls it's easy. The falls was the best thing honestly.

Absolutely my favorite place to hike!
There are plenty of trails to explore here. I do recommend bringing some trail markers, because not all the trails are marked and it is sometimes difficult to find the way back.

There are so many trails in this park, it's easy to get turned around and lost. Take a trail map with you. The views are spectacular. Well worth visiting.

Great hike! The end was hard-all uphill after a 4+ mile loop. Will do again.

Not as pretty as some other ones...very narrow in some parts

Nice hike, great area. Blazes could be a little better marked on some of the smaller side trails, But all in all, great workout for me and my dog.

Huge variety of trial types, from mountain top views, waterfalls, and trail difficulty. The many trails offer you the ability to combo them to custom your hiking experience. The trails are also marked at the beginning of the trail ends with numbers that make navigation easy as long as you have a map. No maps are offered at trail head in parking lot so we had to take a picture with our phones.

Very nice hike. You definitely have to put trails together to make a nice long loop, as long or short as you like.

I love this place. This was the first time I've been there when it was warm. We usually go in November. Can't wait to go back

This hike has a little bit of everything. I really love the variety of this hike and all the paths off the trail that you are able to take. Print out a copy or save the PDF of the trail on your phone, it is easy to get lost.

This is a good hike, giving some challenges and a good workout. If you want to swim, there is a swimming area near the waterfall. Some of the signage could be better. Many of the blazes are 10 - 15 feet into the trail and are hard to find when you are looking for the trail. Some people have placed arrows on the rocks, but finding where the trail foes off the rocks is sometimes hard. I will do this hike again.

Know how to read a map and go early, if you don't intend to camp. Then enjoy all you see and discover!!
