bear encounter

Panthertown is my home and is run by a great conservation group. This is a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. Don't be afraid to get your paws wet.

I took a guided hike led by the conservation group. A little steep in a few spots for my over the hill owners. They just took their time and stopped to breath a lot. The rest of the group had no problems. Those young bucks. Dog friendly.

Enjoy.

Five woofs!

Very pretty, loved the small waterfalls and sandy beach areas to chill. Saw a bear cub, luckily momma bear didn't appear. Diverse terrain. Lots of trails that can be confusing. Make sure you have a good map!

lightly marked but the paths are clear. it was an awesome day hike and I was glad to see a bunch of people out hiking the trails aswell.

Our family favorite

add wilderness and schoolhouse falls to this loop for a 6 miler of complete exhiliaration

Great hike! Other than a few rattlesnakes it was spectacular!

Mostly uphill. Trails are not clearly marked so it's easy to get confused. Trail had lots of tree stumps and rocks. Great bathing area for dogs and kids once you get to the Schoolhouse Waterfall.
Not a huge summit but a great place to hike to just for the view.

Rather easy, less than 1000 feet elevation gain trail.
We were here on a weekend , so met some people but it was not crowded.
Beautiful waterfalls.
The whole trail sparkles! You need to witness it in order to understand it.
Be prepared for several water crossings specially in wet season. .

Great hike with wonderful views from on top of the wall to below the wall. Good amount of campsites, some with water sources and some without. Only problem is the bears in the area. They will come into your camp and they are accustom to human interaction, so trying to scare them off is a bit more difficult. Just come prepared for bears if you are camping and it should be fine.

Okay trial. Panthertown Valley Trail is really a (closed) service road and frequented by mountain bikers. For hikers, it may be best to use Panthertown as a connector as you criss-cross between other trails with more to see and fewer bikes zooming by.

Great Hike. As with all the trails in panthertown valley, take a GPS or a trail map. Portions of the trail (Panthertown Valley Trail) are well-marked, but other parts (Wilderness Falls) is not marked at all. Lots of overgrowth made staying on the trail difficult. Bring water shoes or prepare to cross streams without boots in the rainy Spring and Summer seasons here as water levels are high.

Ended up doing this trail by accident... but so happy we did! We went around to Little Green summit first and then down to the falls. The trail was definitely easy going for the first 3+ miles. A nice/steep climb to the top and then some AMAZING views. Got a little turned around on the summit thanks to some careless wandering but never got too far off path. The entire 4 hours we were in the area we only saw 4 other groups of people which made the experience even more perfect. Can't wait to come back for a weekend of camping/hiking.

This place is great with multiple campsites along the way. Take every side route because that’s where most of the waterfalls and balds are. The place is beautiful. There is a bald on salt rock that isn’t labeled on any maps I say and it’s a beautiful view must go to that.

The little green Mt. part of this hike is the best

has everything: falls, steep hike, cliff walking, wet swampy areas, and lots of leaves. got lost a couple times. this app really helped.

Great trail. If it weren't for the muddy trail and sparse trail markers, we would definitely have rated it a 5.

Nice trail, there were lots and lots of people. We went memorial day weekend. Got rained on a lot. Nice places for campsites and lots of waterfalls. Definitely glad we went.

Great hike with beautiful views and fantastic waterfalls. Took 11 and 12 year olds on the hike and they had no problems with the hike. Saw some bear tracks in the mud. Hike was muddy in parts but well worth the mud. We were there the week of July 4th 2017.
Trail is well marked and pretty well maintained. Lots of great camping spots throughout the trails.

Beautiful hike!! Loved walking through the Granny Burrell bit but GOSH!!! The Schoolhouse waterfall was such a joy!! Absolutely wonderful and the water is sure to wake you up!! Seeing the view from Salt Gap during the early morning and then again after your hike

Poorly marked but great hike

Good hike to schoolhouse falls, there are two muddy portions, expect your hiking shoes to get dirty. I'd recommend going the extra half mile from schoolhouse falls to the top of green mountain for a great view. To the top of green mountain and back to the trailhead is 4 miles. My 11 year old daughter did the hike no problem. The falls makes a good swimming spot. Enjoy!
