Lightly traveled earlier in the day.

Short hike, pretty easy, I got to the top in about 20-30 minutes. View at the top is awesome and it’s about a 270 degree view. There are a lot of different spots at the top to sit down and enjoy the view

Great to go at sunset.

the view from atop was beautiful. The hike up was fairly short. I did enjoy a nice open view of the sunset.

Rigorous hike with lots of rocks and high steps. Best views when leaves are off trees. Note that it is 2.8 miles each way.

Short hike with a relaxing pace and gentle switch backs. Beautiful woods. Nice clearing at the top with spectacular view perfect for a picnic or a morning coffee.

Good work out on this one.
As many have stated up hill both ways - in a way this was good, it provided a good work out thru out.
The big prize are fabulous views on top. We stoped for lunch and threw the ball around for our dog.
The abundance of leaves made it a bit slippery in spots.
Well marked, light traffic.

Absolutely beautiful at the top. Do it. You won’t be disappointed.

Parking is on the side of the road, GPS will take you right to it. There were a ton of cars around but it appeared everyone was doing the Bearwallow Mountain Trail not this one. We backpacked down the switchbacks and to an annoyance of deadfall over an exceptionally steep place. Beyond that one bit of deadfall the remainder of the trail was clear. Once we got down the first initial grade it seemed the trail leveled off until we started to incline to the knoll. We packed through the deep forest without seeing anyone going in and only one couple coming back out. Trail deadheads in the middle of the knoll. We stopped and had lunch and watched the clouds go by. Field had recently been mown so there was no overgrowth to deal with. Trail over all was very nondescript. It was a good workout to get the heart rate up carrying the additional weight. Will likely go back again during the winter to see the snow on the mountains.

Agreeing with other reviews, much much harder than expected. The trail starts with paths and stairs climbing down the side of the mountain you drive up to reach the trail head. The woods are very dreamy, but the drop off to the side of the trail felt steep at the beginning. Before long, you do feel very deep in the woods. The trail climbs and descends several times, passing some small waterways and a lovely natural archway bent over the path, which was stony and features helpful log and stone steps from time to time. Again, it is a challenging hike. You basically climb down one mountain, over the one next to it, and up one more to your prize- the view in the pasture. The hike is really worth it - this was our final hike over a 5-day NC vacation that had included lots of views, and this was the most panoramic. When you finally reach the top, there is a little ladder that gets you over a fence and into a small copse that leads up to Blue Ridge Pastures. If you walk towards the sky and up to the top of the small hill, you get a view worthy of the name. We went in mid-October and didn’t see any flowers, understandably; the pasture grasses had mostly gone brown and brittle, but the foliage falling around us and the rainbow of leaves under our feet along the way really completed this very challenging, very empowering, very rewarding hike.

Just hiked this whole trail today...it’s challenging but rewarding with lots of terrain changes and beautiful scenery. The full out and back was 6.1 miles (we included the Wildcat Rock spur) and took us about 3.5 hours with a couple short rests. Very few people when we started around 10:15, but slightly heavier traffic on way down. We really enjoyed it!

We only hiked to the waterfall and while the climb to the waterfall is steep, it is well terraced with switchbacks and steps. There was quite a bit of water in the stream but we were easily able to rock Hope the crossings

Somewhat strenuous but relatively short hike, doesn’t take very long if you’re keeping a quick pace. Pretty going up and down, nice views up top. It does smell like cow manure but that’s expected with all the grazing cows. Only took 30 minutes to drive from the Biltmore Village area.

Lovely little hike with beautiful views at the top surrounded by grazing cows.

It was a great hike. Steeper than expected but worth. Had lunch with cows and a beautiful view!

Great trail and an very worthwhile hike. Went up via the trail and came down in the fire road. Got a good workout!

Hiked the 2.1 mile trail to a beautiful view of the mountains. Nice moderate trails, wide path and well traveled. Lovely cows at the end to photograph too. Used the gravel road on the way down which was a nice option too.

Great hike with beautiful views up top. Take a picnic, it's well worth it.

Definitely strenuous in the rock step areas. Beautiful hike, but I’m glad I didn’t bring my dog along.
Well go back when the weather is cooler.

Beautiful moderately challenging. I was the only one on the trail on a busy holiday weekend. It was pretty perfect. Easy to find and navigate too. Mostly shaded with sun at the top ❤️

Nice trail. Moderate is definitely the best difficulty rating.
Well traveled. Nice day for a hike so I saw quite a few people.
Beautiful views at the top. Watch out for cow patties at the top!

nice uphill hike with interesting things to see along the way. I also did not ever see a waterfall. My one complaint is at the first part of the trail it is VERY narrow. If you have dogs (I have 4) you have to find a good spot to gather to let other hikers pass.

Great hike! Trail design is awesome. Rock climbing or ice climbing wall half way in.

Very pretty climb up through the woods. Beautiful views at top. The trail ends at top, but it’s called a loop because you can walk down the road back to your car. And, that was pretty as well - fresh water flowing down. Great hike for a quick Sunday am - yoga class going on at the top.

The road to get there’s a bit curvy, but recently paved and no gravel. It’s a lovely hike up to a bald where you can see for miles. You’re accompanied with some cute cows—watch out for pies. Only thing is there is a large cell tower right by the bald. But it’s a nice place for a picnic and a nice moderate hike!

Agree with all the other reviews! Nice well maintained hiking trail. Views at the top were great! There were cows grazing in the meadow at the top but they seemed quite oblivious to us.

I hike this trail at least once a week. Its one of my favorite trials because it's a good workout, well designed, ideal length if you only have a couple of hours, and for me, close to my house. highly recommend.

Great trail. Well maintained. The bat boxes were cool to see. Uphill and steep at times.

Very nice trail and good marking. The yellow to blue trail is what we did and it was a moderate hike.
