Dog friendly trail, nice view on the overlook

Very nice walking/running path. I always feel safe walking this path - there’s a nice, friendly mix of folks you’ll encounter as you do the loop.

We were in town and mom took me for a unexpected walk. It was fun but it was sidewalks and I like natural trails better. It was too cold out for mom so it was a short walk. They were doing a lot of maintenance work so it wasn’t scenic. I need to go back when mom’s not cold & the construction workers aren’t there.

Kinda sketchy drive to the waterfall but totally worth it. This is an easy and short trail. Was completely empty when we visited. The view is espectacular and you might be tempted to jump off the water fall. Please do not do that read the signs there have been fatal accidents at this location. Enjoy the view enjoy the sounds that should be enough !!

Great trail but the natural part is quite roots w narrow path

I did this trail in December and mostly had it to myself on a rare sunny day in the middle of the week. The falls are huge and breathtaking. The trail is well maintained with some small inclines. There was a little ice on the inclines when I went which made it a little slippery in spots but not bad. The stairs down to the falls are worth the effort. A good short little hike and workout.

Hiked the loop counter clock wise. Very well maintained and enjoyable 6 mile hike from parking lot back to parking lot. Flowed well with various up and down hill intervals. Walking beside the creek in many places added a nice peaceful touch to the hike. So history to the location and cool seeing the old damn where the mill was located. Highly recommend for a quick hike and get away.

Very easy trail for a nice day hike. The trail is well marked for the novice.

great area

Nice walk to and around the quarry. There is road noise from the nearby highway but by the time you get to the quarry, it’s minimal. This was our first time visiting this park and we were very impressed with the size of the river. There were other people (with and without dogs) also in the area but for a Saturday, it wasn’t too busy.

Good except after rain when there are muddy sections.

My husband and I and our two dogs hike this trail all the time because we only live about 15 minutes away from LNSP. It's one of our favorites because we can keep it pretty short using the Short Turn trail or you can make it longer by doing the full loop. My dogs love it because there are lots of little beaches along the way where we can stop for a quick swim in the lake. Moderately hilly, you'll get a decent workout without it being too difficult. Very enjoyable any time of year.

It's a gorgeous wooded area. Very busy and muddy after rain.

I didn't find this trail to be a loop. Maybe it has changed since the hurricanes? I don't know. I walked in till I came to a 3-way fork which ended up being near the fork of the rivers which I knew was not like the app is showing. At the 3 way fork, the yellow trail marker (Schoolkids) only showed going back where I just came from and the other two forks showed different trails. I'm not sure if I messed up but I did stay on the yellow markers the entire time until that point and it just ended and that was it. I ended up crossing 2 trails, following my GPS to get out before dark.

Easy, nothing special, but well-kept trail.

Loved this hike. We started with HQ, which was a much quieter trail with a steady incline. The falls were much more crowded but beautiful. It was a great workout - lots of steep stairs. Watch out for slippery steps and mud, especially if you go after it’s been raining. The whole loop took us under 3 hrs.

Great easy trail for a nice walk. Trail is muddy in several areas because of rain but you can walk around. Our toddlers loved this trail and were easily able to walk. great spot to get your feet in the water/let dogs play about halfway in. Turn around at the bridge where it leads to the campground. We parked at the credit union and walked down the hill to the road to start the trail there. Starts as a paved trail

Great trails, very crowded on a weekend when the weather is nice. Hiked the High Falls Loop today starting at the main parking lot going to High Falls then Triple Falls & back on the High Falls Loop to the parking lot.

Choose to go here because the rating said low traffic... totally inaccurate. The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon. I do not recommend going if you’re looking for a quiet trail without many people on it.

Great off season winter hike. much less traffic. very moderate fun hike.

Love this hike. The waterfalls are some of my favorites in North Carolina. Be careful on the slippery stairs though.

Great trail for family! We did it in a couple of hours with our 10yo, 7yo, and 1yo and little Weimaraner puppy. Muddy with recent weather conditions but great views and there are several small bridges throughout to cross the creek. Definitely worth it!

I walked this a few months back while on the other Bear Creek trail. I took good photos of Bear Creek. It was muddy and I was wishing I had waterproof shoes, but still enjoyed the hike.

Great Wall with the kids. It’s paved all the way so it’s excellent for little ones that need a stroller. We saw plenty of people on bikes and it truly is a great biking trail. I highly recommend it to parents. You start at a children’s park and end at another children’s park. It allows you to take a break while the kids play at the park so you can walk back to your vehicle. The trail does get flooded during the rain season so that’s why I deducted one star.

The trail was wet but to be expected. It actually is in better shape than most in our area right now. Nice view of the river. People on trail were looking for bathrooms. I didn't see any at any end of parking area of the trail. My alltrail app didn't record my miles accurately again (It does that all the time), so I'm not recording it.

Great moderate hike. I recommend hiking shoes for the winter. Part of the trail is rough terrain and the other part is cement. We went after a week of no stop raining and the terrain part was very muddy, hence why you will need waterproof hiking shoes. You get to view some great scenic points. Lots to view and observe. The terrain and paved area varies in elevation, so be ready to feel the burn going up those hills.

Loved that it felt like you were in the woods but really right off the road. The first or front loop wad well marked but once you got to the paved road a different story. I don't recommend going until it dries up some. The second 1/2 of the trail wss hardly marked so good luck there. I still have no idea how you're supposed to get back to your car because how we got back was not good climbing through vines, rocks.

Good for a local trail. It should be rated easy. It has mild rolling hills and good exposure to Lake Jordan. There was too much litter, but the area has just experienced two hurricanes and lots of flash flooding, this year. I think it would be great for mountain biking (with mild pruning in one or two areas) or trail runs. Some trees could fall at any time which may pose a potential safety risk. With a little TLC, this trail would make for great hiking, biking, camping, kayaking, or trail running.

Recommended packing list:
- Trash Bags to help clean up the trail
