Trail seems to have changed and at this moment you have to go around the mountain by the Eno river. Some old roads are simply off limits or left as maintenance access. Nice breezy hike in the woods and by the water! Only minus was there were so many spider webs

Nice easy trail but also lovely to walk by the creek for so long. Saw many turtles today!

Nice little loop - a little buggy in summer. Lots of dogs and spots to dip your toes into the water. Would definitely bring a book and enjoy a spot on the river for awhile.

Lots of trash (including condoms and condom wrappers), weeds and some old guy hanging out in his running car in the parking lot.

Great little trail for a hot day in the summer. There was no water in the stream as it hasn’t rained for a little while. Parking where the app tells you to do is just fine

Great trail to get back into backpacking/camping. It is definitely a beginner trail with slight elevation. Overall it was a nice trail, with some great views and I would definitely come back!

Nice if you’re looking to hike without running into many (or any) other people. Lots of great wildlife - in one hike we saw an eagle, 2 muskrats, toads, 2 snakes, and lots of spiders and lizards. Down by the river it is rocky and not terribly well marked at places - it was definitely a challenge for my 35 pound American Dingo mix, but she did it. We ended up not finishing the loop at the end because the river bit took longer than expected.

A great trail! Varied terrain, free of obstructions, well marked -- although the signs don't indicate distances. It is rocky, but I wouldn't say that there are any scrambles per se (as indicated in at least one other review) - there is nothing you can't easily walk across. Most of the rocks are small and jagged - mainly a note of caution for runners. The steepest part is the section leading down to the foot bridge, and it's not too long. The ascent across the river has some good elevation, but a curving path to ease the climb.

Gravel road in Duke Forest from Gate 10 to Gate 13. Trail is better for a good workout, trail running or mountain biking. Combine with Couch Mountain Trail from Gate 11, and Couch Mountain Trail to create a 3.7 mile loop.

Gravel road in Duke Forest to a turnaround at the top of Couch Mountain, no views. Trail is better for a good workout, trail running or mountain biking. Combine with Couch Mountain Trail from Gate 11, and Gate 10 to 13 to create a 3.7 mile loop. This section has a cool uphill or downhill along the power lines.

Only about .45 miles of the trail is “moderate”. I’d consider the rest “easy”.

Beautiful trail but the way back to Mt Sinai Rd is confusing and not well marked. Would be interested to hear how others have navigated it. Agree with others to pay attention to the part of the trail that crosses the river--easy to miss.

came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was NOT lightly trafficked

Trail was well marked and maintained. Started out at 745 am on a Sunday and didn’t see anyone until closer to 9 am! Great trail for dogs. Many spots to sit by the river and eat or let your dogs play.
