Definitely a nice hike through the quiet woods of the Pisgah. One tiny little waterfall on the trail. Always hang a left no matter what. It was nice, but I probably wouldn’t do again.

We prepared after reading reviews (especially Toby Brannan) and upgrading the AllTrails app. If you haven’t done that, I highly recommend it!

After walking through seriously overgrown trails (trails were about 6” wide because of so much growth), ending up on the gravel road was a welcome reprieve.

Our pup wasn’t happy about crossing so much water, but we loved it.

If you are looking for a private trail, this is it. We saw no one all day and it was the 4th of July!

Nice short level hike to a tall waterfall. easy but kind of steep going up and there is a small waterfall and pool to cross at the top. the trail continues to a third waterfall, and makes a nice loop with pine ridge or harpers creek.

short easy walk, beautiful views any season

Moderate hike, glad it wasn’t steep the whole way. Beautiful falls but difficult rope climb down to the base of the falls. A lot of people were swimming there and some even slid down one of the lower falls.

Nice trail. Nice view of waterfall. If you want to go farther take the MST onward

Short and sweet with a nice overlook. Parking area has great view of Grandfather Mountain. We were there on a very foggy day but when the clouds cleared for a few moments it looked amazing!

short, nice little beauty spot. must see all 4 seasons

Good trail with very nice views. Trail is fairly clear and marked up to waterfall. When you are driving to this location its hard to find. Google just marked a spot i couldnt get to. So when you are going down the dirt road you cross a 1 lane bridge. About a mile down there is a horseshoe parkinglot. The trail head is there and marked with a sign!! Follow orange blaze...then follow orange white blaze. when you get to the top of the hill you see MST to right. Only follow if your staying on the loop. Stay st on orange blaze to go to waterfall. Trail does have wash out in spots but overall I thought was decently marked and there was a clear path!

this loop is 271a, 266 and 239 with some time walking the road on the north end. multiple creek crossings, may stay dry depending on the time of year. take the time to go down to the base of North harpers creek falls, it's worth it.

nice short walk to pretty falls. Backtrack to the campground and continue out (mst/orange) beautiful views, multiple river crossings, and the reward of the much more challenging south harpers creek falls. trail is 5.5 end to end but after the so. falls, loop back around via raiders camp trail for 2 more waterfalls. lovely area

Beautiful views of the sky and surrounding areas for a short trip!

There is also a rock wall just off the main trail that is frequented by the rockclimbers that set up shop nearby.

And if your lucky youll see tons of birds! :)

Great trail just not marked clearly, didn't get to complete the trail because of the confusion. it intersects with multiple trails. this was for N.harper creek falls, blaze color is yellow, then changes to blue and from I read it changes to orange after blue before completing the loop. really good camp site at the beginning of the trail, and another really awesome creek side site about 3 miles in give or take.

Super short hike with amazing views. A must do!

This little gem was very fun! It has all the adventure.. follow the orange trail markers. The trail gets narrow and steep in spots but if you follow the trail to the left you will come to 2 areas when you can use a rope to get right on the water. Be careful the rocks ARE slippery even if they look dry. ( the trail to the right takes you up to a nice view of the falls but then the trail just ends.) very narrow).

Beautiful diverse terrain

Easy hike. Did it with fresh fallen snow. Challenging because of it but good. Beautiful views at the end. Great beginners.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls we have seen yet!

Did this in winter... wear waterproof shoes! Worth the very short hike!

My husband and I got up super early and hiked in the semi dark so that we could be at the top of Beacon Heights at sunrise. Totally worth it!

Beautiful hike. I didn’t like walking on the gravel road for possibly a mile? The cascades/falls are small and pretty. Thanks Toby Brennan for helping with the blazes. I took a picture of your comments Incase if no reception and did refer to them on the trail. All Trails map kept me in the trail. There is water for dogs in the middle of the hike as you walk along the creek.

Great short hike with incredible views.

Peaceful hike! Loved having a big pool to swim in after the hike. There are two ropes - a big white one at trail’s end to the upper part between two Falls, and a smaller blue rope a tad before the end of the trail that leads to the base of the lower Falls. I had my dog with me so didn’t attempt the white rope (mostly steep rock and was cautious for my dog ), but we were definitely able to go down to the the lower Falls . I had to help my dog up the bottom rocks back to the trail, and he did fine. I am counting the days to go back and swim- with family this time!

See Kristin Black Yoxall’s review for trail directions.

Hidden treasure! Great place to watch the sunrise.

I give it a five because of the great waterfall views. There are at least six great locations on the trail. The trail is difficult to follow and we got lost at least three times but worth the trouble.
