Nice short level hike to a tall waterfall. easy but kind of steep going up and there is a small waterfall and pool to cross at the top. the trail continues to a third waterfall, and makes a nice loop with pine ridge or harpers creek.

Wide, level trail with multiple waterfalls, several can only be seen in winter. It is a nice loop with harpers creek #260 and 2 more waterfalls

Harper Creek Falls Trail was an excellent hike. It was very beautiful! I highly recommend going there on a hot summer day. Jumping into the water at the base of the falls was refreshing to say the least. There is many campsites along the trail that looked ideal for future visits. A permit is required to camp along the trail. I will be going back.

We chose a hot summer day to hike and camp on this trail. Crossing the creek was challenging as you're gonna need to go barefoot or have water shoes if the water is high. Have a walking stick handy for balance.

Made camp on the creek about 1/3 the way up the trail and hiked the rest of the trail without gear the next morning. Steady incline heading out, without gear it wasn't too bad, but if you're out of shape you may need to rest along the way. It's mostly shaded in the summer which kept it cooler, but we were still sweating pretty good.

There are lots of turn-offs from the trail and it seemed like the actual trail wasn't always clearly marked, so I'd suggest getting a map from the Wilson Creek Welcome Center, we were glad we did. Even still we didn't end up at the waterfall marked as South Harper's Creek Falls, according to pictures. We ended up at a small cascading waterfall, so we missed the trail marker. We didn't mind, still took a dip and headed back out as it was getting hot.

Use bug spray, we did but still pulled a lot of ticks off two of us and our dog. Be wary of mountain bikers and bring water. Took us about 1.5 hrs to hike from the creek crossing to the west end of the trail, and about 1 hr the way back to the creek crossing, as it was mostly downhill. Pretty enjoyable hike, lots of flora and fauna to discover. I would do it again, maybe in cooler weather.

great place to ride

Short and sweet with a nice overlook. Parking area has great view of Grandfather Mountain. We were there on a very foggy day but when the clouds cleared for a few moments it looked amazing!

literally almost lost my life And my dogs life's. tails is not marked!!!!!;
stay away!!!! please

short, nice little beauty spot. must see all 4 seasons

started from the kawana side, about 8.5 miles and counted 6 waterfalls. Beautiful loop, highly recommend.

this is #258 Wilson Creek and 258a Wilson Creek spur on the WNC trail guide. Lots of downed trees when we went, gets narrow and not well blazed but easy to follow. A couple hidden waterfalls if you don't mind going of trail a bit.

Beautiful views of the sky and surrounding areas for a short trip!

There is also a rock wall just off the main trail that is frequented by the rockclimbers that set up shop nearby.

And if your lucky youll see tons of birds! :)

Super short hike with amazing views. A must do!

Started the hike April 28 at 9:45AM. Took the right fork in the trail at the Y intersection. Hiked 4.9 miles and made camp. Trail is not well kept as we are used to on our Appalachian Trail hikes. Just keep following blaze marks on trail. Many water crossings where u will get wet, water up to knees or above. We took Water shoes to keep our boots and socks dry, and kept water shoes on for several crossings. Made camp at 2:00PM. Hiked 8.6 April 29. Most beautiful hike I have ever been on. Very challenging but rewarding. Do not get in a hurry on this hike. Some trails are no more than a wash out, going up the side of mountain. Beautiful waterfalls and a very high rock wall. Trip would be more difficult if left fork is taken at Y intersection, about a mile from start. Water crossings where u will get wet every 1/10 mile in some areas. I would not recommend for kids. Overall very satisfied. 4 stars well deserved . The only reason I didn’t rate a 5 Star was some of the trails not easily marked, but it is a wilderness hike, and we were never lost!

Beautiful trail, but the 8 miles listed above is wrong. My GPS clocked this loop at over 12 miles, and I met other hikers who said the same thing. The west and north sides of the loop were very poorly maintained, so bring a compass and pay close attention to your map. Also, there’s a really bad washout on the west side of the loop that was almost impassable as of April 21 2018. There are over 12 stream crossings on the north side, so avoid this trail if the water is high. When the water is low be prepared to get wet up to your knees. If you like adventure, this trail is for you

Tried this hike and was unable to get past either of the first creeks. Got to the one on Raider Camp and it was high and running hard. Decided to try the other way and the first crossing on Harper Creek Trail was higher and faster. I'll go back in the summer! Don't miss the side hike to Harper falls though, that was worth the trip.

Great hike. Camped there for a few days.

Great hike to the waterfall. Three or four good camp sites along the way. Waterfall is spectacular.

Easy hike. Did it with fresh fallen snow. Challenging because of it but good. Beautiful views at the end. Great beginners.

Any hike by water and ending with a waterfall and swim gets a good review from me! Beautiful hike along a wild river (after a mile, or so) . Saw no one else the whole time- peaceful! No really steep areas except the little descent to the fall from the trail. Slow incline the last mile back up, but not bad!

Beautiful, easy, refreshing watering hole!

Great road on a dual sport motorcycle

Did this in winter... wear waterproof shoes! Worth the very short hike!

Such a beautiful view for such an easy, relaxing hike. Even in the winter the view was absolutely stunning!

My husband and I got up super early and hiked in the semi dark so that we could be at the top of Beacon Heights at sunrise. Totally worth it!

Hiked this late December. Trail was scantily marked on West and North sides, and was difficult to maintain in areas due to downed trees and debris. Be prepared for the creek crossings, they are a challenge if you’re trying to avoid getting wet.

Great on dual sport motorcycle
