This trail is gorgeous however, it was really muddy and the maps are very confusing. I got my feet drenched 3-4 times. It is very secluded so go with a friend or dog. I didn’t feel safe there. Also the path was not paved. Which is why I’m only giving 3 stars because parts of the trail looks like no one has walked them in years.

Nice hidden gem of a trail. Markings are somewhat sparse and there are many switchbacks through the trees. Several have been cut, so it can be daunting at times to tell exactly the right way to go. Good trail for those starting back into hiking after a hiatus due to the low elevation changes. My wife and I enjoyed it.

Good trial. A lot of trees so if you are looking for sun that won’t be probably the best option. Easy to follow with the app, keep in mi d it could be a bit muddy if rain was there even few days before, but great to spend half a day outside !

This is an active community trail in South Charlotte NC, mainly used for biking and walking. Trail is well maintained by Mecklenburg County Parks & Recreation. Most of the park is wetlands and supplemented by several boardwalks to make it walkable. Trail is used by many of the locals to run, bike and walk their dogs. There are several trail entrances into the local community, allowing easy access for pedestrians. The McMullen Trail connects to the Lower McAlpine and 4 Mile Creek Greenways. There are a few low lying areas that accumulate muddy spots but nothing you can’t walk around. I went out 3.5 miles, turned around and got just under 7 miles in. Plenty of parking in the lot off highway 51. There’s a bike repair station and water fountain at the start of the trail . You will definitely see some local wildlife while on your hike ... deer and the NC common Blue Heron. Another great NC trail ... nice and quiet for family activities or lone hikes.

This is a fairly easy trail located in the heart of Matthews, NC, just outside of Charlotte. Trail is heavily traveled by local residents and town visitors alike. This is a mainly dirt trail but there are a few areas near public facilities that are asphalt or concrete. This is a “Full Service”‘ Mecklenburg County Park that gets a little assistance from the local volunteer Trailblazers organization, who maintains the mountain bike loops. This trek isn’t marked very well so pay attention while hiking ... or your little hike will end up being a big hike. There’s over 265 acres of land so plenty of opportunities for recreation. Trails are maintained very well and lake views are plentiful. Restrooms are immaculate and staff members are visible on occasion. Plenty of parking available even on weekends. Portions of the trail borders several local private communities, so you don’t get the feeling you’re “in the woods”. This is a well equipped park for all types of family activities and easily accessible. Good intermediate hike for beginners. Hike On !

One of my favorite trails. It extremely long distance for a suburban trail. The paths are wide and very easy to follow.

I am lucky enough to live very close to this trail and get to run it with my master (mom) a lot. It’s especially great in the warm weather since it is mostly shaded. Only problem is mountain bikers can sometimes ride a little fast and don’t always yield to runners/hikers so be careful.

Fun path, plenty of nature, saw a bunch of deer. Quiet and peaceful. A nice mix of rocky and smooth terrain. Construction is in process to extend the Greenway.

Good work out close to home that is mostly shaded. Trails aren’t marked great so it’s easy to get sidetracked on a smaller loop, but always find my way back to my car using this app. Dog friendly!

This is a great trail for beginners like us. There are restrooms and the trail is well-maintained. Lots of shade. We went on a Saturday morning and we only saw one other person. Our dog loved it too!

Will never go back alone, incentive to get a dog or a taser. Super rape-y vibe the minute I walked onto the dirt trail—might have been the man in short shorts sitting spread eagle on a bench, might have been the young guy walking in sandals and jeans who I passed twice.

It’s s good variety of trail, gravel, rocky, roots, sandy, well paved and shady. The environment is quiet with very low noise from traffic/city. The signs indicating the route is very confusing and it’s easy to get lost, I have to stop severs times to understand where I was which breaks the rhythm of the walk.

It the bike trail closest to me. They have added lots of features recently. Surface is hardpack with sand in some areas. Roots wherever trees are close to the trail but plenty of places to gain and keep speed. There is a black diamond loop with larger features. All features have bypasses. There is one large jump. I hiked it today and that was not near as fun. All the hard pack isn’t all that enjoyable to walk on.

Great little hidden trail, very quiet clean and underused. A nice nature fix close to town. Some parts are kind of buggy and low lying so bug spray is a good idea.

This is a easy walking trail. Wonderful way to escape work for 30 minutes!

Quite a few muddy spots due to recent rain which is to be expected. Disappointed to see so many bikes out with strict 24hr no bikes after rain policy. Beautiful trail and would like see it stay that way.

Another beautiful night on the trail. Very few bikes and ran into only one other hiker.

I like this trail for an easy quick hike. It’s shaded 95% of the trail and it has a concrete loop for those that prefer that and then a natural loop trail off of that. It’s very clean but does have annoying bugs so you might want bug screen. The bathrooms weren’t open so a little disappointing after a 2 mile hike.

This is the cleanest trail I’ve been on in Charlotte. Short and sweet, as others have reviewed. Great quick workout and deserted, which I love (granted it’s 92 degrees out). If you want to cut your teeth by trying trail running, this is the spot. Not many tree root obstacles or rocks, and super flat. Also has a water fountain near the facility with a low faucet for rinsing or for pups. Someone even left a dog bowl so my dog could get a quick drink when we were done.
