Clean, safe, and one mile laps! Great tree roots, hills and stairs for beginning trail runner. Close enough to parking lot I leave my water bottle in my car.

Only hiked 1.5 miles of Greenway, but will definitely return to do more. Would be nice to have some signage along the way

Walked this with my son and a group of Trail Life USA guys. Had a great walk. Water didn’t seem as clean as it should have been. The water in the slow moving creek/branch was foamy. Not sure if foamy is a sign of pollution or not but was foamy none the less. Other than the water, the walk was great.

Solid trails. They have lots of rocks and roots so be aware as you run. Make sure to follow marked signs (running opposite of the MTB loops) for the safest experience. Everyone I've ever passed/been passed by has been courteous and friendly.

We love to walk our dog here ... very relaxed ...the scenery is great and it’s our favorite walk right in the backyard ..

Please follow directional signs. All persons on foot Clockwise only! All dogs on leash only! All bikers counter-clockwise only! If using earbuds please leave one ear open so people can call out as they approach you. Simple rules to keep everyone safe.

Great flow and good length with options to tailor the trail to your level of riding. Don’t recommend hiking here - dominated by fast mountain bikers.

Great mix of natural surroundings, wonderful little nature center, and hikes for most skill levels.

Great little trail complex right outside Uptown Charlotte. Easy but unpaved so has a very natural feel.

If you live in Charlotte are are seeking a little solitude that is convenient, this is a quick escape especially if you go during the week. Park gets really crowded at times but overall a great place for a quick and easy hike through the woods. I go here alone but hiking is easy for kids as well.

Great flow!!

Great trail for close in to Charlotte. Did the full 4 miles plus, but can be confusing when you get into the back and forth of the biking trails . There are signs to remind hikers to walk in the opposite direction of bikers, but most ignore. Terrain is all natural and very rooty, but level and fairly easy to navigate. Wish the trails were marked better and more often. Every time we have been we have encountered lost parties and tried to help them find their way.

mountain bikers make it he'll for walkers

beautiful easy relaxing trail in pure nature with a creek and kmlaje views. mountain bikes share this trail and its impossible to relax. not for enjoyment for those who walk.

Finally found a trail in the Charlotte area that felt like a nice woods hike. I will definitely be back often.

Great Trails

We came to this trail do do a nice walk, hoping to find a good trail for when we move here with our dogs. It was not a winner for that. We did the loop twice in about 30 minutes. Not sufficient for dogs. The trail is well done though! I could see it being a great place for a field trip.

Used to be a great trail but with heavy rain this year getting to be too Rooty and Rocky. Be careful and if you have ankle sleeves/support wear it. Also, the trail is really only marked for the sight of mtn. Bikers. If you are running the opposite direction as instructed you can’t see the trail markers because they are on the opposite side of the trees. However, it’s nice because there are so few running trails in Charlotte.

Eh I’m new to Charlotte but this trail is tough on a hardtail. It is probably a much better ride on fs also is quite overgrown in some sections.

Paved greenway with plenty of shade, bikes, dogs and other hikers/walkers. Wide enough for all to enjoy !

Great little hidden gem in NW Charlotte!

Nice location near UNCC, Mallard Creek Church Rd parking lot is small and could fill up fast. Review photo for upcoming work that may shut portions in the next few weeks.

it's fun and large enough you can spend most of the day.

This is a review (for the most part) of the green loop/section only. The green section/loop is the easiest part of this trail and is great for a family ride with kids eight years and older. It’s also the longest section of the trail.

This is one of the prettiest trails in the Charlotte MSA in my opinion. My family and I have ridden it at least a hundred times. The lake, ringed with thick forest, is postcard picturesque in the spring, summer, and fall. The trail is shared by both walkers and mountain bikers, although there are more walkers than mountain bikers for the most part. The trail has really nice flow, including some cool bridges and technical areas to ride over, including some fun drop-offs, jumps, balance beams, and shallow burns that prove easy enough for our ten year old to handle. This is, however, a rooty trail, and can be quite jarring at times. But for us, that’s what makes it fun! And last but not least, this trail is very well maintained and well designed in my opinion. Kudus to the Tarheel Trailblazers for doing such a good job.

The only concerns I would tell newcomers to be aware of are:
1) This trail is not well marked in certain places, and can be confusing if you are not familiar with it. But as long as you have your smart phone with you, loaded up with a good trail app (like Alltrails) you won’t have any problem.
2) Watch out for copperheads in the fall. During this time of year they come out to sun themselves on the warm dirt trails. They blend in very well with their surroundings and can be hard to see.
3) The black and blue sections of this trail are insainly rooty. Too rooty to make it fun in my opionion. And definatly too rooty to get good flow. But each to his own. Some folks like super rooty tails. Just my opinion that's all.

Some of he trail is paved, pushing a stroller wasn’t too bad. Did the figure 8 to see the whole trail and spent some time in the playground in the back.

Great walk in the woods. Easy to traverse for little ones. Plenty to see. Heavily wooded, lots of poison ivy— my suggestion is pants and some bug repellent. From parking and around the outermost loop is 2.5 miles.

Nice warm-up trails to get day started or to wind the day down.

I have began recording each of the trails in McDowell park with some basic comments.
