I had a good time with my family. I had a 9 year old and 11 year old boy and they did good! Very well marked. 95% was sand.

Beautiful paved trail. Perfect for a short run, bike, or walk. Gators are in the retention pond. So no swimming. The city really hit a home run with this one.

good trail with many options of alternative trails.

Didn’t see a single Venus fly trap

This trail was the highlight of our stay at Carolina Beach State Park Campground! The native pitcher plants were amazing, and the trail had a great pine fragrance. There were areas of boardwalk and nice viewing areas, a lily pond and a grass pond where there were egrets. They also have a guided tour which we did not get to take.

This is a good little trail, great for walking or biking with kids instead of the main roads. There are a few road intersections to watch out for though. It’s a paved, flat trail, I’d rate it as easy, not moderate.

Pros: Free parking Panoramic views Different routes You can adjust your trail to make it longer or shorter Not crowded Well maintained Clear trail signs Cons: No public restrooms (ol’ natural) HORSESHOE FLIES (worth it though, I would recommend some type of bug repellent, it helped me )

Beautiful walk through! Terrible horse flies by the way not the trails fault. We were bombarded with them on the hike and they followed! Will hike again soon

Total loop if you do all the add-ons can be 5 miles. Some areas are very hot and in direct sun. Make sure to wear a hat and bring light long sleeves if you are not used to direct sunlight. Interesting birds, frogs, bugs, and other wildlife to see. Kid Friendly and Dog Friendly (on leash).

sugarcoat, swamp and flytrap trails...flat n sandy...smells like honey!

Awesome and beautiful trails!!

Not bad. Saw and heard a good amount of birds. Heard some frogs as well, but they stopped when I got nearby. Well marked trail.

We walked this trail (actually the ENTIRE park ... every step of every trail) during our vacation in July of 2018 and it was easily the highlight of our trip to North Carolina.

I went around September, surprisingly there was a ton of mosquitos. We did get to see like 4 snakes on the trail. Depending on which path you take, you may run into snakes. I was looking for a more of hike and maybe bit of incline. I ended up being rushed out because of the mosquitos which I had spray at hand but it was just overbearing! It was nice seeing some cactus on the same walking near the beach. Then nice walk through the woods? Getting closer to the Venus trap which are VERY VERY small by the way.

Great park. It was very humid the day that I ran here but the well maintained trails and views of the river and forest made up for my discomfort.

I saw a beautiful blue heron and blooming Lillies on the little pond and the gnarled trees are gorgeous

Have done this trail many times over the past few years in combination with the other many trails in Carolina Beach State Park. All are enjoyable adventures.

Nice trails but a little challenging for my dog stroller in some of the sandy parts. Have done the trails many times over the years.
