stop here 9-26-17 at one of my most favorite overlooks on the parkway is graveyard fields located at milepost 418.8. not only do you have this stunning views but you can do a short hike doing down to the lower falls and a second hike just a little longer to the upper falls. i didn't have time to go the the upper falls but take a left out of the parking lot as just around the bend you can see the upper falls from the roadside. if you hike to the upper falls than the lower falls and back to the parking lot the loop is 2.9 miles. at one time between 500 to 1000 years ago the was a spruce forest that was burned down leaving dirt mounds and the forest did return but fires got it again in 1925. this spot is very popular and there are bathrooms. if you only have time to see one thing on the parkway. this would be an excellent pick

The trail starts at mile marker 417, just across the road from the Looking Glass Rock overlook. No cell service up there, so that detail is helpful. The hike is nice and short. Downhill going in. Uphill coming out. The falls are beautiful and the water is lovely. We had a great swim and also enjoyed river trekking both up and down from the falls. It is a lovely series of pools and falls.

Great 360 degree views. Lots of bees with all the flowery bushes, but they didn’t really bother us. Lot of tight areas from the bushes. We combined this with sections of the Art Loeb trail. About 6 miles in 3:15. Our favorite trail of the week.

I did this hike two days after my 61st birthday. This was a strenuous hike and took us 7.5 hours round trip, including a break for lunch at the summit. The view from the top is beautiful. I am not used to hiking and found it to be much easier going up than coming down. I do walk around our mountain roads, so am used to walking up hill. This hike was a workout and a great way to spend the day out in the wilderness. I thoroughly enjoyed my day hiking up Cold Mountain.

Beautiful 360 degree Mountain View’s!

Beautiful trail on the way up to the summit. Only saw a few trail markers the entire time and had to ask where the trailhead was when we began. Very rocky and wet on the Laurel Creek side. Overall good hike for families.

Hiked from the picnic area at around milepost 407.5. Only clocked us in at about 3.5 miles to the summit of Pisgah and back. Pretty heavily trafficked but a nice hike. A great strenuous push for the last 1/2 mile to the top.

Stunning views from the balds. A bit rocky however I was able to maneuver with a 23 pound baby in a front pack. Manageable. Moderately crowded in his section. I would love to do the whole Art Loeb some day. Lots of campsites on the trail. It was a beautiful day today with a cool breeze!

Incredible site! Only knock is that it is overcrowded.

Make sure you have water and ways to filter, there is a pipe spring at the top. But that’s a long way up. Round trip to the top can be done in 6-7hrs. Hiking poles can really help on this one. The saddle about 2/3rds to the summit boasts great views for camping (no water there bring enough) the best times to hike here is in the fall-spring. Once summer hits the views are diminished due to vegetation.

We started at Pisgah Inn at the trailhead at the campground entrance road, then hiked up to the top of Mt. Pisgah and made a loop of it by taking Buck Spring Trail back to the inn. It was a six-mile loop that we enjoyed - kids included. The trail wasn’t as busy as we expected for a Friday afternoon in August and we had the deck at the top of Pisgah to ourselves for a bit. Lots of butterflies along the trail right now. Can’t beat the views and the opportunity to visit the restaurant!

Loved this trail! One of the best maintained trails in the area, and unbeatable views from the top. We parked at the Mount Pisgah trailhead and the hike was only 3 miles round trip. Our little Jack Russel pup loved the rocks to scramble over! I'd rate this as moderate.. the incline isn't too bad until the summit and even though it's rocky, it's very doable.

It’s beautiful but super super rocky and narrow in many spots. Don’t need to do again. It would be considered easy if not so rocky

Steep partially paved hike. Unfortunately when we got to the top it was covered in clouds and we couldn’t see very far. I’m sure if it had been clear the views would have been great.

Gorgeous rock scramble at the bottom of the waterfall. Great for kids!

Great hike today despite the fog and rain on the way down. Must be beautiful on a clear day. A bit of a rocky climb but still easy.

Sweet hike with fun rocks to step up the whole way. Got hailed on right when we reached the top so didn’t get to take in the view a whole lot. Well taken care of trail.

My wife and I hiked this trail today on my 63rd birthday. Great hike! We parked at the country store at Pisgah Inn, crossed the road and hit the trail down by the campground. This portion is narrow and a little weedy (beware of some nettle weeds). If your skin suddenly starts burning and itching, that’s why. I always pack Benadryl spray and it will help but all symptoms will be gone in a few minutes. I love this type of trail, with lots of rocks to climb and the view at the top is awesome. As always, good hiking shoes, water, snacks and a hiking stick a must for most of the mountain trails, including this one. Go early to beat the crowds!
