Look, the hike is easy to and from the waterfall and the waterfall is beautiful. Here’s my problem with this hike. The GPS basically tells you it starts at the stables, which is a half mile away from the trailhead. Fine- whatever. Then you hike in on Avery Creek Trail and meet up with Buckthorn Gap trail which takes you to the trail for the waterfall. If you JUST go to the waterfall and come back, which quite frankly I recommend, you maybe at 5ish miles total. I did about 9 today, since after I left the waterfall I wanted to keep going, so I followed the orange blazed Buckthorn Gap trail which is a bunch of “trails to nowhere” it tells you on the sign you are on the trail and then next thing you know a mile later you are still following the trail and the blazes are gone...... it’s a mess. Lots of creek crossings, some a bit precarious. Some mud. Some bees.

Amazing, breath taking, vast view of the mountains!!!! Definitely not easy but it is very do able and worth it. Pretty muddy.

Great trail even on a rainy day. Couldn’t see off the top because of fog but it was still lovely.

Beautiful falls at the end. Muddy due to all the recent rain and A couple of downed trees in Clawhammer. Other than that, it was perfect. A little tough on the dogs, but they were fine.

Beautiful hike - but never did find the waterfall that others pictured and that the hike describes. Closer to a 5.5 mile loop, rather than the 4.7 indicated.

One of my favorite hikes in Pisgah. The trail is fun with several water crossings over log bridges. Both waterfalls are gorgeous. There has been a lot of rainfall recently so the trail was very muddy. It was great to see the heavy water flow as the water flow is typically very light.

A frequent hike for me. Easy. Amazing views. Its one of those trails I hit up when I don’t have a big hike planned. It’s a nice hike to do at dawn. By the time you start heading down, the crowd rolls in. But you generally have looking glass rock to yourself if you can get there by 6am

4 miles of quiet rhododendron tunnels With packed leaf litter trail. Very nice

One of my favorite hikes around! The trail is VERY muddy and rocky. Make sure you are wearing hiking boots and not street sneakers. Also, from my recording, the trail is 7.2 miles round trip, not 5 like this app says.

Would not recommend this trail for dogs due to safety in having to cross 5+ single, double, and triple log bridges. Very muddy due to the heavy rain the past few days. Clearly marked. Large tree down near top of Clawhammer Cove though so my dogs and I followed the 5058 back to the stables instead.

A great hike. Was crowded as start of Memorial Day Weekend and the loosening of Covid restrictions. Fantastic views. One of my favorite hikes.

The trail is slightly muddy right now due to the rain. So be careful, it is slippery. I would recommend a hiking stick. The difficulty level is above Moderate. Hike to the view point is approx 2.7 miles. There are no signs to say how many miles to go. So follow the yellow mark in the trail. The view point is really amazing. Just like a Windows XP wallpaper. Definitely worth a shot.

Beautiful, well-maintained trail, but way busier than many of the lesser known trails which is kind of a drag when you're trying to social distance or just get some alone time in nature. Uphill was pleasant given how well made the trail is, but definitely takes some endurance. I was surprised by how consistently inconsiderate people were about trying to stay as close to 6 feet away from one another as possible on the trail today. I know it's not easy, but for every single person that passed me I would move as far over as possible to give them space. Almost no one reciprocated the gesture, and continued walking in the middle of the trail instead of scooting over to the side while passing. I wish folks had a little more trail etiquette during this pandemic

Ok so this was very confusing! The map on the app took us to cove creek but told us to stay along the Davidson which took us on a narrow difficult trail (we had our 9 and 6 yr old with us) we ended up turning around and going across the street to a gravel road that said closed campgrounds. I’m not sure if this was suppose to be the trial to begin with but like I said it was not the same trail on the app. We walked up that til we got to the cove creek lower campground (which was closed for now).

Was a wonderful moderate hike. Worth the view once you get to the very top!! A lot of switchbacks makes the elevation a bit easier

This is more of a walk along a river than a hike. It’s pretty, but it’s crowded and has a lot of traffic noise. Good if you need something short and flat.

We had a lot of fun doing this trail last weekend. First hike of the season, and this definitely got us sweating haha. You should bring water! We forgot ours in the car and it made the hike much more difficult because there is a lot of up hill, heart pumping parts. Not terribly difficult, just long but a beautiful trail!

Awesome trail with great views

We were looking for a trail to walk after a lot of rain that wouldn't be too muddy. This one is mostly gravel with some boardwalks and was great, a couple of large puddles but easily skirted. We enjoyed the rushing river, cliff face and flowers along the route and walked almost 3 miles after exploring the camp ground. Like others have suggested, we parked at Lowes and crossed the street to the trail head.

Great hike done on 05/21. Trail is muddy from all the rain earlier this week. Amazing views atop.

I think it was more than moderate and I hike alot. it was a continual uphill climb with a few switchbacks and getting closer to top . There was a tree down that covered the trail but just go to the left and you will pick up trail. the view is definately worth it. Freaking amazing!!! trilwas easily marked on the trees.

Mountain biked. Graded as easy. Way too many roots. The pink bed loop does not show for mountain biking the entire way. 2.5 miles into trail you come to a cross trail. Both directions at that point show trails only for hikers. We continued on the pink bed loop trail to complete the loop even though may have only been for hikers the last 3.5 miles. Definitely more for hiking!
