great hike, about 30 minutes up to summit and beautiful views along the way. definitely a rocky trail and slippery in some spots. very much enjoyed and will be back again.

Nice for a great walk or running trail. Don’t actually consider this hiking, personally. The trail is extremely wide (with horse droppings) so this fit in more as a nature walk. Pretty scenery and easy for everyone.

Easy, wide open hike. Horses walk this trail frequently. Part of the trial is being worked on and “closed” but you can still navigate around.

Rewarding falls at the end! Trail is tight in the beginning but opens up for a nice decent to the bottom. Waterfall is beautiful and great for a mid hike rest! Trail diverges towards the end, stay left. If you go right, you’ll navigate over/under/through fallen trees. Not the right way!

Overall: great hike! Be prepared for the assault back up to the top!

REGULAR ENTRANCE IS CLOSED! Amazing trail with views. Also has a downed plane a little off the beaten path. Can only be accessed between mile marker 301 and 302 then taking the Tanawa trail to the trailhead this adds an additional 2.8 miles to the trek so plan ahead.

Such a beautiful hike. Moderately trafficked when we hiked due to other trail closures. Still amazing. The summit is a small climb but the view is worth it. Look for lots of wild blueberries on the trail during the summer!

Great trail. Beautiful views and great photo ops. High traffic on the day that we hiked it. Well worth it though.

This was a great little trail to pick up over summer. You're well-covered most of the way under a tree canopy that sometimes closes in to be charming and cozy. The trail itself is mostly uphill and peaceful. There's camping at the end (including a rope line to put your food out of reach). My biggest complaints are the folks who hike in with four itty bittys and a 16oz bottle of water to share between the lot of them, and the utter ambiguousness of the trail ending. It ditches into a series of small campsites, but has no definite end. I ended up traipsing around the woods trying to figure out if there was a view I was somehow missing, before giving up and scrambling up a few rock faces. The views were pretty decent, though challenging to track down.

I *strongly* suggest that if you have the time (and energy, snacks, and water), that you take at least a half mile jaunt up the Cragway Trail (you can access it a little ways back from the end of the Nuwati). The Cragway is steep, narrow, and strenuous, but the views even a little ways up are fantastic. If you're feeling ambitious, you can keep going until you hit the Daniel Boone Scout Trail, take a left, and you'll loop all the way back to the start of the Nuwati (I obviously suggest looking up that route on AllTrails so you're not going in blind).

It was my first time going there hiking at “Rough Ridge Trail” and I must say the views were absolutely amazing. I’m looking forward to coming back again.

Such a great trail! We have hiked it several times and love it more each time. It is a great "quicker" hike to get a good workout in for the day. Smooth and quick going in, but more tough coming out.

A calm and peaceful place. I loved the view of Cone Manor tucked in between the mountains. The water lillies & flowers on Bass Lake were lovely.

Wrong shoe choice proved to be difficult. Bring washed out, but would have been fine with proper shoes.

Rocky but fun!

Nice easy walk or jog. Arrive early to take advantage of the cooler mornings and fewer people. Nice scenery on the longer trails.

awesome! series of waterfalls. good memories

Really neat moderate hike off of the BRP. This is a short hike with amazing views.

on Rough Ridge

This trail produces the best views per unit of hiking effort, anywhere on the Parkway. This is a “do not miss” hike in my book.

The wind was very high today, which was a good reminder to be careful, especially on the rock outcroppings. The trail is very difficult when wet.

Looked good on paper but trail is closed on due to bad erosion after long weeks of rain.

Very nice family trail with some elevation

This was a nice trail, steep decline. It was pretty easy. Mistakenly went after heavy rain and the creek was high. Be careful.

Hiked this yesterday. Up and back from Rough Ridge parking lot on the Parkway about 1.3 mi per my Fitbit. Hike diminished slightly by clouds obscuring most of the views. Was also a bit bummed that the Rhododendron were not blossoming this time of year, likely due to all the rain recently. But the trail was in good shape & there were some nice rock outcrops, We particularly liked the wooden boardwalk that walked us through the ecosystem and explained some of it. On a normal June day that was sunny and the Rhododendron blooming, it would be a 5 star short hike.

Awesome waterfall at the end

trail closed due to wash out from recent storms
