Flat and forested. Cool swampy feel on the sides. Really phenomenal birdwatching at the end where it juts into a marshy area of Jordan Lake. It was really pretty buggy. There was also a bit more trash than many places, but it looks like they periodically clean it up with volunteers. This is on gamelands, bit well marked at the entrance when deer season is. And no hunting on Sundays, anytime.

Took the pups 5/6/18 and saw no souls but us! Smooth, clear (with the exception of a few recent fallen trees), and beautiful. The bugs are starting to come out so bring bug spray. Poison Ivy abundant next to trail. There are still two sections of planks over washed-out sections. No hunting on Sundays.

Not maintained too well and extremely snake-friendly. Easy hike for the family though.

Nice easy trail for a family outing. About 2 miles in there are 3 culverts that are in the process of being replaced. They have boards over 2 of them to cross the ditches but one of them is a bit dicey. Not impossible to cross but something to be aware of.

I found this trail back in 2005 and have hiked and biked it many times in the past 12 years. The end at the lake is one of my favorite places in the Triangle, and just before that on the left you can see the foundations of what I think is an old water tower. Incidentally the rail trail continues across the peninsula on the other side of this part of the lake. You can access that from Transis Camp Road.

Kristen and I️ ran this trail. So pleased to find it. Perfect for trail running. Great soft footing. Level. Awesome trees to block wind and sun. No confusion about route as it is 2.3 out and 2.3 back. Expansive but shallow lake at end. Some men where working on putting in plastic culverts.

This trail was really pretty. It was pretty flat—not a challenging hike at all. There are a couple of places where you have to walk across a board, which is a little scary. The lake is very low so you can walk out to it but beware the mud—my hiking buddy sank in up to her calf in about two seconds! Bugs weren’t bad this time of year.

Like others, we were completely swarmed by mosquitos throughout the trail since it runs through a very swampy area. I would recommend lots of bug spray if you decide to give it a go. Besides being dive bombed by bugs, it's a pretty straightforward trail that you can take at an easy pace.

A hike on this trail on a hot July day meant that we were constantly swarmed with mosquitoes and other buzzing things which made it harder to enjoy. We should have expected this since the trail goes through swampy areas down to the lake. Pretty trail, though, that is an easy walk with no elevation changes.

Be careful. This is a beautiful trail I use often because it's scarcely used but often I hear gun shots in the distance. The area around is legal public hunting ground so watch out if you go off the trail at all!
