Great hike! There is a section of trail that is flooded and swampy. We had to bushwhack around the swamp and eventually made it back to the trail. Not much maintenance has been done this season, lots of fallen trees and debris, but it is well marked. We saw a group of sharp shinned hawks. It appeared to be 2 adults and 1 or 2 yearlings.

Great hike. Covers a lot of different terrain. Fair warning, though, as of 5/26/18 the last 1.5-ish was inaccessible without hiking through a swamp that’s overtaken the trail. It will likely recede as the summer progresses, but we had to backtrack around the lake yesterday.

Bring some good waterproof boots!!!

great hike

This was a fun trail. VERY rocky. It was like a rock explosion every minute. Fun to traverse through the woods. Lots of people with doggies! Some cute rock scramblish spots, but no real climbing unless you go off trail and climb up one of the cliff sides yourself. And you will pass 3 of those before you’re done. Oh and no views on this loop. Must connect elsewhere for all that.

Very hard to find the turnaround to make it a loop. Ended up 7 miles away from our car while it was getting dark. But it was beautiful and we had fun!

Enjoyed this nice quick loop..great place for a bird enthusiast like myself. Lake was gorgeous..truly had a perfect day to hike. Plenty of places to enjoy a nice lunch as well. Good trail for any level of hiker
