What an amazing hike! Absolutely stunning views, and such a great range of terrain & elevation. The views of island pond are especially breathtaking. However, I deducted a star for a few reasons: First, this hike is NOT seven miles. My mother and I both measured the distance, and it came out to about 12 miles in total. Also, really keep track of what trail you should be following - it changes abruptly at times. We followed: white to green at times square, then to blue on white, then red on white, then yellow, then to a trail that had no markings until the parking sign. The main thing that threw a wrench in our hike was the 35 feet of standing water in the last mile and a half of the hike. We were stuck with another two hikers and could not find anyway around this water (even hiked >50 feet away from the trail). We ended up wading through water that was mid thigh-high for me (I’m 5’9”). All in all, I think it’s a rewarding hike if you take adequate breaks and plan for distance & weather!
