Stony Point, New York Map

Enjoyable hike. Very nice views. Had to come back down the way I went up because there are no markers for the ‘4 mile’ loop on the other side of the peak. I think it was only malted for the longer hike.

The trail was nice with a cave, active little creek, and breathtaking views but it was so poorly marked! We followed the blue markers but got half a mile off the trail! And once we got up to the top, we couldn’t find the path to continue the loop. We had to go back where we came and got off the trail again following the markers. Then the markers were no where to be found. We decided to follow the map instead to find our way back to the trail. We went off the trail, into the thorny bushes and all..

This is one of my favorite trails in Harriman! Great views from multiple peaks.

1928 Lookout tower is in very fair shape. Recommended. Pretty busy up top by the shelter, but beautiful views.

Not a bad hike. Some short climbs but not too strenuous. Trail markers could have been better marked. Also, the area around the trailhead was completely overwhelmed with broken bottles and trash. To people who litter and have no respect for the outdoors: do us all a favor and stay off the trails!

one of the best hikes around NYC. Interesting cave and tunnel to explore

We hiked it on Sept 4, 2017. A beautiful weather does enhace the views. The refuge is well maintained. To complete the loop, we took the old trail and almost got lost. I loved this trail and will do it again.

It took us 2 hours to do the 4mile and it was sooooo beautiful and relaxing, only hour away from the city

Went backpacking to the shelter on big hill this weekend. It was great for last minute plans. Beware- July/August are rattlesnake mating season and there were two HUGE timber rattlers ~25 ft from our campsite! One of them has a den at the top, which we saw it go into for the evening. Very cool experience!

Lots of rocks. Amazing formations but at times quite challenging.

Warm up before starting the trail. It's an up hill hike with lots of stone stairs to the top.. (a warning to those with knee issues) I timed the hike to reach the tower just in time for the sunset. Sit relax and enjoy the breath taking view

Relaxing loop with some nice uphill and an excellent view from the top of the fire tower! It’s been recently painted and it’s sturdy enough to climb carefully! Saw lots of turtles and frogs on this hike as well. Be careful where you step!

Great loop. Moderate/easy trail. Fire tower was out of commission when I had gone but they were working on it that day so should be good to go up and take a look at a beautiful view.

Love it, nice and simple, just got lost at the end...(

Beautiful and well maintained trail; The 300 + stone steps at the beginning can be hard on knees for older folks and non hikers. A 15 minutes walk around the lake to warm up before starting the hike will help. The view from the Perkin Tower & history of the Palisades park portrayed in the tower is well worth the efforts.

We were lucky to have best timing for hike right before first snow, see video below

There are many more trails up there than are laid out here but still pretty much bushwhacked from Jones to Dunderberg & Bald peaks for the BMBridge views before rejoining TT Blue. Not too hard to hike a beeline in an old growth forest. The dog flushed lots of deer

Easy to miss trail markers in some areas. Pay attention.
Parts of trail are slippery and steeper then expected especially if you’re carrying a heavy pack. Make sure you have enough water.

On the harder side of moderate... great variety of terrain... sick view up top... cool rock cuts and old railway tunnels...super fun

Decent trail, views are great. narrow and very rocky.
