Great trail, our youngest who is 6 even loved it.

Perfect for intermediate hikers. The height starts right away and ends with down hill. I will come back for sure for a quick hike.

Great for biking and family.

Nice out and back trail. Not many scenic views but worth it if looking for something quick to hike. Other trails attached that I’m going to look at off this trail

Stroller friendly, easy walk and relatively short walk. Definitely not off the beaten path, but not terribly hard to stay reasonably away from folks.

Absolutely stunning views over the entire trail.

Great workout and nice to see a forest that isn’t over run with invasives! Very steep to start, fire tower is out of commission but still a worth while hike to avoid people and see great natural features.

Absolutely beautiful... pretty steep going up but some switchbacks make it easier.

Our original plan was to check out Bull Hill, but since the trail was closed we ended up landing here after a ranger told us about the park. We picked this trail because it seemed to be the most challenging the park had to offer. Parking was reasonable and busy, but not packed. The trail head was easy to locate. The trail had some decent ascents and definitely provided a work out. The area is a bit rocky, but manageable. Not a very technical trail but there was some lovely scenery along the way! Moderately buggy. Clearly marked.

Moderate traffic on the footpath but distance still able to be respected and maintained except near beach access areas. Easy stroll for all with level ground, stroller and wheelchair accessible.

We checked the Internet before driving to Caumsett State Park and it was open, as NY State Parks should be, but on the way there we drove by the Lloyd Harbor police station and they had an electronic sign saying ALL PARKS ARE CLOSED AND NO PARKING ON THE SIDES OF STREETS. It’d taken an hour to get there so we thought we’d go the last few minutes and take a look. Parking on the sides of the beach streets had clearly been going on for years, there was ample space to make it safe, but a police officer was there giving tickets to some people. As we drive up to the park entrance we can see a park attendant seeming to wave traffic out of the park, but there were no cars coming from the park and the entry side of the street was closed with a sign saying PARK CLOSED. Why was he pretending to wave traffic out of the park? On the way back we saw an officer stop by some people parked on the beach side of the road and then drive on. Why were the other people getting tickets, but not these people? We drove down to a beach area further down. Maybe we could park there and just take a walk. However, on arrival a police officer told us although it’s usually open to the public, for the remainder of the year it’s open only for residents of the town of Huntington, which Lloyd Harbor is part of. I brought up the State Park being closed and the officer immediately became very defensive, saying “This isn’t part of the State Park! It was full by 10:00 this morning, I know, I’ve been here all day!” If that was the case why do the police have a sign saying all parks are closed? Why are they only giving tickets for parking on the side of the street to non-residents? Why is the park attendant pretending to wave cars out of the park? Huntington is clearly a very wealthy town that likes its State Park and funding but uses the police force to make sure outside visitors aren’t allowed. NY State should take a look at them.

Very short trail to waterfall, suitable to take your kids to play in water.

Nice to ride bike and skate along the reservoir, occasionally you can see .

Really disappointed in our visit today. We quickly decided to get off the rim trail almost as soon as we got on because social distancing is not possible on the narrow trail, and there were a lot of people not wearing masks and not respecting distance/not paying attention to the space around them. Had multiple people almost bump into us both on the trail and down at the lower pool (despite there being a lot of space there). Maybe we’ll actually be able to enjoy the trail next time, because it seems beautiful

I had a great time hiking this trail with my dogs. I had no problems with the markings at all but I followed an actual map instead of the app. A Ja’s advice was helpful. I have been doing mostly easy to easy/ moderate hikes due to injuries. This was a perfect step up. A solid light moderate hike. On my way up I hardly saw anyone. The trail got a busier after 10:30. The only thing I didn’t like is that there were just a few creeks were my water loving dog could cool off.

Really peaceful hike. No trail map available so I used this app. Without it we prob would have gone off trail. Would visit again.

Nice 3.8 mi trail each way. There are some gravel roads to pass over so mtn/hybrid bikes suggested. Small general store with ice cream at trail start. Beautiful open farmland views along the way!

I took Cliff trail - saddle brook -pulpit rock -long - Mildred Faust which was about 2 miles total. I was trying to follow this map, but it directed into private property so that’s how I ended up taking saddle brook. There are different views amongst these trails which was nice. I didn’t particularly enjoy all the rocks and tree roots. Not strenuous, but you do have to go up and down some rocky areas. Nice breeze and birds chirping. A bit of crowds in some areas but not bad at all.

Really good view. Fun but challenging trail. Would do it again.

Lower Gorge is closed still

Great hike! Views from the water tower are beautiful. Not too many people but you do have to wait your turn to climb up.

Great trail with good elevation and some nice views. Several steep inclines especially in the beginning. Harder climb and hike than typical moderate.

Nice place for an easy hike. Currently crowed on the weekends in the mornings and over half the people there weren't wearing masks or staying socially distant. Would recommend going in the afternoon or during the week.
