Southfields, New York Map

Lots of rain earlier in the week so the falls were pumping. Perfect day, great marking even with all the leaf’s easy to follow trail.

Did a modified version of this hike. Sort of a figure 8 on a lollipop: Ramapo-Dunderberg over Black Rock Mountain to Hogencamp Mountain, then caught the Long Path at Times Square to Dunning. Followed that all the way to White Bar and then back up Durian to Black Rock Mountain, back down Ramapo-Dunderberg and out back to my car. Had to park a 1/4 mile west on Kanawauke Road since the parking area near the R-D trailhead was packed. Some great views from Black Rock and Hogencamp Mountains, lots of nice slab walking, some shady forest areas, big glacial rocks and abandoned mines. The boulder tunnel at Cape Horn on the Long Path was a fun surprise. The push back up Nurian to Black Rock Mountain at the end had me sucking some air. Only downside of this part of Harriman: motorcyclists who use Kanawauke Road as their personal speedway. Apart from the noise (which is only really noticeable at the start and end of the hike), it's a danger to hikers walking along the road and people getting in and out of parking areas.

About 8.5 miles round trip.

Awesome hike. Unfortunately the All Trails app was ABSOLUTELY useless. My location kept bouncing back to the physical location of the cellular towers and not my location on the trail. Luckily Google Maps worked and I was able to navigate.

Nice hike with varied terrain...thought it was more on the moderate side than difficult. Many places to camp, if so inclined to do so, including a shelter along the trail. Went on a Saturday morning and there was certainly a crowd enjoying the loop. Took the red blazed RD Trail to the yellow blazed Dunning Trail to the aqua blazed Long Path back to the RD Trail...took me around 4 hrs to complete.

Great hike. Went on a weekend day (although it was above 90 degrees) and only saw three other people. Great views and a good workout.

I did the yellow trail and it was well marked, as long as you were paying attention. Nice gentle ups and downs and I tracked the trail at exactly 3.5 miles. Mostly in the woods with a couple nice views at higher points, I did not see the waterfall mentioned in the description though. Appreciated the clean port-o-potty at the trailhead! You can hear highway noise the majority of the hike. I did not see a single other person, which was astounding considering the proximity to NYC on a beautiful Saturday in May.

Did this exact hike today. R-D ridgewalk is a favorite. Lots of people and dogs, but certainly not as crowded as Reeves Brook area. Moderate, not difficult

Access road closed in winter.

Good hike. We did white/red middle to Green turn right at Times Square follow green until yellow path again turn right and follow until you see white with red in middle turn left and follow back to start. About 7 miles. This path is nice in all different seasons. Enjoy and be safe.

Great hike. Awesome views. Solid intermediate hike. Great for families and nature lovers. Went on a weekday. Only saw a family and a couple of people. There is a campsite 1.5 miles into the hike. Camped overnight on a prior hike.

Great, hike. I would say moderate over difficult, lots of different terrain but really loved all the rocks. Unfortunately i found the hike too crowded for me, for the weekend, so recommend doing it on the weekdays.

Beautiful! Hiked in from White Bar trail. Heavenly!

Road to trailhead is rough... good work out... rocky in spots... views are nice... you're by the road for a bit which lowered the peaceful factor ... still an enjoyable time in the woods

beautiful. hard but still family friendly. fun rock faces to scramble up

Well maintained and fun. The waterfall isn't too far from the road.

Nice trail. Good for all skill levels.

Use a four wheeler to get to trail head. Road is real bad on a car. Trail was over grown and easy to get lost

Really nice variety of flora, beautiful view of the island pond valley

In some areas the trail is very narrow and heavily lined with poison ivy. First vista includes highways :/ some nice moments though

Nice trail with very nice views

2017 Memorial Weekend. We just did it very easily . View from two sections of boulders is amazing. On one of them we found a big bird nest with crows.

Great hike! Challenging with a lot of variety. You might get a little bit wet.

I didn't see some of the things other people saw I wish I did but the lake was very pretty and the views were beautiful

Great hike. Sweet views along the way, changing elevation, shaded by trees, rock ridges. several clean water sources available (at least in April/may) for us & the dog. Did this as an overnight, but didn't stay near the shelters (too many Boy Scout troops!) easy enough to find other quiet spots. Did as a counter clockwise figure-8 hike: Ramapo>Nurian(white)>white bar > Dunning yellow > ramapo> long path > dunning yellow> Ramapo back to car. About 12 miles in total. Took about 5 hours taking our time to complete 3/4 of the figure eight. Took 20/30 mins to get back to the car the next day.

Love the trail. Parking will be an issue if there are many people out. The falls were a nice surprise.
Only did a mile in and had to turn around due to getting dark. Hiked a bit of it where it is just too rough to run. Really enjoyed it.

Kanawauke Rd was closed so we parked down the street a bit at the kanawauke picnic area. We walked about a half mile down the road past the road black and bushwhacked up the unmarked side of black Rock Mountain untill we met up with the trail. These are some of the best vantage points I've ever gotten at Harriman with a very rocky open summit . From the top we continued along to the bald rocks and shelter area which is also very nice . from the Bald rocks we took the yellow trail about half a mile to an unmarked trail that led back to the road we started .

I have yet to fully finish this trail after going twice, but for atleast half of the trail- the hike is amazing. The mountain offers a steep hike in the beginning, but it slowly progresses while being rewarded with some beautiful mountain top scenes..

If you're looking for a satisfying trail without having the thought of completing the whole 11 miles.. I highly suggest it.

The trail is so peaceful and you are gonna have a very good time. In my opinion it is a moderate trail.
I would recommend you follow the trail signs and not the app's map.
