This was a nice quick steep uphill but overall very easy trail. Nice little waterfall about 1.4 in right off the path, just need to listen for it. HOWEVER, we did see a black bear meandering on the path, he was about 200 feet in front of us. He was completely un-phased by our presence, our yelling and jumping, and he just continued on toward us a few steps and then turned into the woods. We hiked this trail today, 6/4/2020.

I hiked part of this 5/30/20 and it is no longer closed. You are required to social distance or wear a mask around others.

We started on the blue path across the street from the kayak boat parking lot. It was a nice hike up with moderate steepness but with some rocks to walk over which can be tricky with young kids. My 5 and 6 year old did great. Reaching to the Pine Meadow lake was a nice feel and if you keep going around the lake you'll see a small waterfall and that was where we stopped and had lunch and made our way back. There was probably 4-5 groups of people for a Sunday during COVID period so I think this is very good. Give it a try. I give it 4 stars because there wasn't a lot to see on this hike except the lake. A few snakes by the lake.

Good trail. if you need a challenging route with some ascents and light rock scrambling, you can start on the Red on white then turn right on Blue on white. There are a couple of viewpoints here and then make your way towards the lake on Yellow. Some markers are hard to spot and there are many open areas/unmarked trails, so its easy to lose your path. Watch out for snakes under rocks on mountain tops if you are going off trail. I would suggest getting there as early as possible to avoid the crowd on the trail and by the Pine Meadow lake

It was a nice casual trail you could hike everyday for a quick workout. Wouldn't travel far for it. There are multiple trodden paths toward the top so don't lose sight of the markers.

Solid trail, definitely recommend getting their early and doing the full loop, agreed with previous people, a few trail markers are hard to find but if you have your phone you can pull up the map on here and use to gps to guide you in the right direction, bring plenty of water

This was an ok trail. The first viewpoint on the orange trail is lovely, and the rest of orange through the woods was nice. The blue trail viewpoint - the wires take a lot away from the view. Once you pass that view the blue markers disappear for a bit so bear right and downhill to pick up the trail again. Parking for about four cars only.

Nice trail. Trail markers can be tricky to find, but overall a solid hike that has great views of the lake/skyline of NYC. Ran into three rattlesnakes so be careful. Gang gang

This trail is very good but falls short in comparison to other ones in the area. It stars off as a very fun walk along the stream. Some bridges and lots of rocks. There’s not really much of elevation for a loooong while. The walk around the lake is pretty flat and boring. Saw few snakes but otherwise it was disappointing. This part took away the excitement expected from a usual hard trail. The fun part comes towards the very end. Hike gets more challenging climbs and definitely few fun descends! I’m glad I did it but wouldn’t come back.

Nice trail. Easy, not crowded, and good for young kids.

Loved this hike - it had it all. You want plenty of wildlife like newts, rabbits, snakes and turtles? Check. A variety of grades spread throughout? Got it. Beautiful lake views, walking along a river, and shady trails? Yup. Plus - the hook part of the hike near the south side of the lake leads you to an old family cemetery! VERY cool. Get there early to avoid other hikers. We started left of the parking lot, following the red trail, clockwise. Not sure I would recommend counter-clockwise as I liked starting along the river, but it may be slightly easier counter-clockwise. Gotta be honest: the last 1/3 of the trail kicked our butts, with steeper inclines and less cover, but it was still great. My fitness watch clocked us in at 10.3 miles, not 8.4. Bring a LOT of water - with a short stop for lunch, this took us 6 hours. So far, my favorite hike in all of Harriman.

Nice view in a few locations i veered off a little to see the cabin. Long hike , paved in spots and buggy in may

I did a shortened version of the listed hike. Hiking Orange then Blue blaze going counterclockwise to finish the loop. A nice hike of hills and valleys. A few lookouts. Avoid it if the noise from the NY Thruway will bother you.

Great trail with lots of different terrain. Beautiful views at the beginning. It’s important to keep track of changing from blue to red to white trail we got a little lost and off trail a few times.

Trail was nice. Views on the top was awesome. It was on the harder moderate trails... 70 year old had a hard time climbing several times.

Glutes. That is all

Me and my 2 friends liked the scenery of the lake. Elevation was solid and made it fun. Tons of nats and bugs but it did rain alot few days leading up. Lastley and this is very important. The trail heads have no maps or directory so use your all trails app to make sure you dont hike to far off in one direction

We camped on the northside of the lake on a bluff overlooking it; beautiful site! We got hit with 3 snow squalls in mid-May so be prepared! There's maybe 5 campsites on the northside of the lake and another couple along the SW side of the lake FYI. They all already had stone firepits built from previous campers. You may consider hiking the red trail in and out instead of doing the loop as shown; the trail off the SW corner of the lake is hard to follow (got lost a couple of times) to connect and do the loop as given; as well I thought the nicest part of the hike was along the brook that leads to the lake.

Great trail. Orange trail is very steep and rocky. White is more gradual. At the top there is a great view of manhattan and all of Rockland county. Make sure to bring bug spray.
